Hey all,

Today I joined the forums here, and I'm going to try and be a regular poster.
Brief dossier: started playing classical in 7th grade (well into University now), then got a MIM Strat, which helped shape who I am today. A few years after my MIM, I got an MIA HSS Strat, and holy cow do I love it.

University came along, and school made it impossible for me to stick to guitar. I took weekly lessons, and it was simply a waste of money. So I took a hiatus for a couple years.

Very recently, it hit me that guitar was something that I NEED. It's a hobby, it's a pastime, and it helps keep me sane. I need to keep playing guitar so I can CONTINUE to do well in school. It was an epiphany.

And so I went to a local store, bought myself a roundneck resonator (Fender, of course), and am starting lessons again this Wednesday!

Welcome to the forum, Konrad ! I got the impression that you are more addicted to lessons than playing in general? If that's so-it's ok-just got me wondering

Welcome! I understand your need to play. I can't let a day pass without playing, even if it's for a short time. having discovered why you need to play is a good start to perfecting your abilities.

Good luck.

Never thought of that question. I really love going to weekly lessons. I hold my instructor (who was my instructor back when I was like 12) in very high regard. He can find nuances and small details that I never would be able to find on my own.

With that said, when I know a song, or when I can put a rhythm track in and jam to it, it puts me in a happy place.

Putting you in a happy place is exactly why music exists! Congrats on getting there and welcome to the forum.

Really? Why is that? Does the slide damage the strings or something? (Total newbie here when it comes to slide :p)

Also, here's my instructor for those who're interested:
