I'd like to apologise on behalf of Britain for having one direction, the spice girls, take that, and George Michael in the closing ceremony. the who were awesome, they were missing the rolling stones, in my opinion. otherwise i enjoyed the ceremony.

As a Brit I would like to make no apologies for any of these acts, because as pop music they are awesome, Gary Barlow writes some fantastic pop songs and George Michael has come out with some of the best pop music there is. Just because it's not guitar based like most people here enjoy doesn't change the fact that it is very very good music for the people that it is aimed at.

i know not everyone likes guitars etc, but surely tom jones, adele, to name two would have been a better bet?

Maybe, although honestly I'd rather watch One Direction than Adele, I can't stand her, however that is neither here nor there.

Although in her case I was under an impression shes taking a break for a while after her throat issues and to chill out.

But we have to bare in mind some of these bands they picked are worldwide stars, the Spice Girls have sold 75 million records, Take That over 45 million. One Direction are huge with the kids in america right now. I know it's not to everyones taste but from a popularity standpoint I guess it makes sense.

Oh and whoever wrote that song for One Direction is a genius, one of the catchiest records I've ever heard, thats a pop masterpiece.

The biggest FAIL of all time is that NBC cut The Who, THE BLOODY WHO, from their broadcast here in the states. Someone should lose their job over this.

NBC eventually showed The Who perform, but it was on after midnight following a preview of one of the network's new prime time shows and the local news. I thought they (The Who, that is, not NBC) did a nice job, and kind of made up for their Super Bowl halftime disaster a couple years back.

I have to admit I was a little disappointed in the closing ceremonies followng an overall fantastic olympics. Sure, the pyrotechnics looks great, but the music didn't do much for me. Would've liked to have seen Clapton and Gilmour. I was also hoping to have seen Kate Bush and Blur (each were rumored to be performing, but in the end, only their songs made appearances).

Didn't much like the Queen/Jessie J collaboration. Annie Lennox was great. Just happy to see George Michael up and about.

Ray Davis getting out of a black taxi and singing was a highlight for me. That's all I would care to see if I ever visited London. I was actually a bit surprised that Adele wasn't there, but then she is a few months pregnant, so she has an excuse.

Kaiser Chiefs doing pinball wizard was a nice surprise, though it would have been better if the bass player had played John Enwistle's actual parts rather than just root notes. I'm glad that Coldplay or Kasabian or The Kooks or someone didn't turn up, but then Ed Sheeran pretty much falls into that same category, even with Nick Mason and the guy from Genesis.

Some people on our local radio shows were complaining that Norn Iron weren't represented musically, But that is in keeping with the title "Team GB" rather than calling it "Team UK" or "GBNI". I'm not really bothered about that, but it would have been nice to see Snow Patrol or Van Morrison for example making and appearance. Not that the latter would be likely to be up for it.

Still, I really enjoyed the closing ceremony overall.

These games were great in sunny London. The American mayor was great. He plans to run for US president soon. These were the first games since my retirement, so I saw a lot of them. Some of those beach volleyball players looked like they could crack walnuts with those bu-tocks. I seemed to favor the women's sports. I don't know why. It was all just great. Well done London.

I saw the Who, etal in the closing ceremony. I found out about Take That lately and love their tunes, as did Princess Diana as I have read. Is it Eric Idle who sang the happy song with Prince Harry singing and whistling along? The Bollywood dancers just made it more happy to me. I don't know who Jesse J is, but I love her. Just great. Congratulations Sir Ceri. :D
