I figure anyone here given a choice between an Ibanez 335 clone or a Gibson 335...they'd pick the Gibson of course. It's like asking Hummer or an all wheel drive mini van.

Or maybe, station wagon or SUV? haha, basically the same, but one has more appeal than the other.

Gibson

Gibson for me.

But Honorable Mention goes to Ibanez's Artcore Series. Really good Rockabilly Vibe and killer hollow Body tones for a Reasonable Price. My Dad has one, the Rock Around The Clock solo begs to be played on it.

Yet that crappy no-good player, Joe Satriani (who signed my Ibanez JS1000 guitar the other day), plays basically nothing but Ibanez. And he sucks soooo bad - as in there aren't many people in the world with his technical prowess and musicality. Among others are Bob Weir, John Scofield, Marty Friedman, Pat Metheny, Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai. Defintely an eclectic but quality bunch.

I'd take an Ibanez (actually, for the price of Gibson's, I'll take three or four Ibanezs) over a Gibson (LP) any day of the Martian calendar. Gibsons are expensive, heavy, and have the most basic hardware. Maybe an SG could find a way into my collection but no more Les Pauls for me.

Now, if you're givin' them away that's a completely different story... ;)

Veddy interesting query, thanks for raising the thought...

...'have 3 'lawsuit Ibanezes, virtual exact copies of Gibsons (except bolt-necks), made back in the early-mid 70s when Gibson was not making the designs.

'Still have them and have not 'upgraded' / traded them for the 'real thing,' the lawsuit-era Iba-Gibs are SUCH nice guitars.
