 , I didn't mention the old 78rpm records because those albums were like a book with each record in a sleeve, two sides A&B, so when listening to the album it was more like listening to 20 singles with all of the record changing and flipping,

As a child of the 80s, I am old enough to remember those good ol' 8 tracks. We never had an 8 track player at my house, but I had several friends and relatives who did. I always thought they were pretty cool. They were relatively compact (a little bigger than an Atari 2600 cartridge, in 80s speak :) ), you could fast-forward between tracks, and they were able to be used in car stereo systems (a novelty, at least, when they were first introduced).

We also didn't own any 78rpm records, but my parents' stereo system was capable of playing them. I remember the turntable had four different rpm settings: 78, 45, 33 and 16(!). Still not sure what the '16' setting was for -- I've never, to this day, seen a 16rpm record...

Album, start to finish.

I had an after-market 8-track player in my Torino GT is the late 70's. One of my favorite albums was Deep Purple's Machine Head. To this day I can't hear Space Truckin' without thinking of the way it faded out-kachunk-faded in as it changed tracks!

It depends on the album, and where I'm at, at the time.

Some recordings have to be played contiguously. Others not so much. I usually listen to music through iTunes the last couple years or so and I'll mostly play playlists, however many of those playlists have tracks that are permanently joined together. I chose other in the poll.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I always listen to the whole abum except on some compilation CDs where there may be a song or two that I'm not fond of.

Grew up with 45's. The single mentality was heavily marketed and still is today. Madona/Lady GaGa ect. you take a piece at a time.

I like themed/concept albums and listen to the entire work. Works such as: Sgt. Pepper; Tommy, Tarkus, and Dark Side.

Depends on the album and how much time I have. Back in the vinyl days, I'd just start them up and let them play. Today most of the music I listen to is digital.

BTW - Sales of vinyl have leveled off. Not sure what that means. Maybe it's a lull between big releases or maybe it was all just a fad to begin with.
