hey guys... i was getting my marauder registered today and i thought to myself "lets get my 2007 squier vm strat registered too" and it hit me... squier guitars don't have registration nor dating info here

squiers guitars are growing more and more in quality and they are also considered a part of fenders stock... not to mention that they have been a part of fender for years now and they seem to be making thier own history alongside fender... all of this leading me to this question????

why don't squier guitars have registration and dating info????

because they are cheap enough and in such great numbers that there is no point in tracking them. also Chinese inconsistency is above average, if you think some fenders are confusing......... imagine dating Chinese mass production

what you just said means nothing considering the modern player series is made in the same chinese factory as the classic vibe series... plus people are actually collecting the older models... especially squier originals like the 51, the supersonic, the jagmaster among others... like i said, squier seems to be making its own history alongside fender

how does that make what i said mean nothing? they are both also cheap and chinese made..... I am sure Price is what influenced fenders decision not to track them like the more valuable guitars.

thats just it man, considering they're both cheap and chinese made (but still pretty good imho) if you could register and date modern player guitars why not register squiers?... they're making it sound like whats on the headstock is all that matters... but in the end aren't they just fenders??? i mean why bother a squier having a serial number if they don't use it????

plus like i said there are people out there that are collecting squiers now... why not have more control over that situation?

maybe not in fenders perspective, the collectability of the Chinese squiers will never be near what the fender name guitars are at. Fender must not feel its cost effective since they are produced and sold in such massive cheap numbers. its like the "Starcaster", people may collect them one day but its still just a cheap guitar.

this may sound rude and I don't intend it to be, its just an analogy.
people also collect tin bottle caps, but in the end its till just a cheap bottle cap

They do. I have found the info. Not the exact date but a range like 1994-1995 Korea or 2000-2001 Indonesia. Each Fender guitar is distinct no matter where it is made. Leo's and George's designs for solid body electric guitars and electric bass guitars are quite possibly the very best ever, hence they are closely reproduced by every guitar manufacturer on the planet with the very interesting difference that none of the reproductions, no matter the cost, sound anywhere near as good as the Fender and Squier made solid body electric guitars and electric bass guitars and, to quote my favorite Martian, this is of course IMHO YMMV. :D

ralfcaetano, this link should help with the build date for your Fender and Squier guitars. I haven't registered any of mine but there may be a link here to help with that as well. Good luck with the registration process. Let us know what happens. :D
