Pet Sounds exhibits outright classical-composer levels of musical composition, it's a true masterpiece.

Personally, I find it hard to compare this Beach Boys album with anything the Beatles did, but listening to Pet Sounds right now; it reminds me (in a parallel universe) of the Beatles' effort Magical Mystery Tour, a Beatles album that I never liked much. There are some good songs on Pet Sounds, but there's no shortage of weird stuff, either. I think Brian was on his way to mind bending drugs in 1966, same as The Beatles.

There's no arguing, though, that if not for The Beatles' domination of the charts in the 60s, the Beach Boys would have had a lot more Top Ten hits.

It's bounds, because the Beach Boys didn't play on Pet Sounds, studio musicians known as the "Wrecking Crew"did. :wink:

I actually do think it is vastly superior to anything The Beatles ever released, and this thread was not tying to get SK's attention. It's not trolling. Pet Sounds is, IMO, better than anything The Beatles were even capable of imagining.

This isn't some big secret that they tried to keep from the world. Hell, Wilson WANTED them on it. He wrote or co-wrote every song on the album, and arranged and produced the entire thing. The composition of the music is simply amazing.

I like The Beach Boys. I think my second grade class put a choir together and we did one of their songs for the talent show. :lol:

The Beach Boys Live in Concert was the first album I ever bought. I learned to play guitar with that album. Pet Sounds was an innovative album that made McCartney put it into gear to finish Sgt. Pepper. But why not say, Pet Sounds was better than anything C.S.N. ever did. Or 100 other groups. I guess it was just coincidence that Floyd picked the Beatles to beat up on. :roll:
