Hello, Mr.Firestorm. You seem to have the ability of using your language-explaining well. Why didn't you do that in the first place? You obviously have an agenda -which not many of us could understand in the beginning of the 'storm'. If your accusations are right , and you have been a victim- loosing money and honor- your reaction is understandable . But throwing out accusations, apparently with the lack of evidence - you have just 'pissed off' many members of this community- not to mention those endless repetitions of pics , which for most of us are not interesting at all. Well , you will say- that we all should be interested in preventing the sale of fakes-of course , you are right. But neither of us have seen any evidence. And until then - I don't think it's right to attack somebody at all. And now you seem to have deleted your postings...... :?

He's a prime candidate for the "ignore" button, that's for sure.

I think this place has not gone down the crapper. If you want to argue, it's not a very good place to do it. But if you want to know about how to build a guitar, fix an amp, learn about pickups, get a wiring schematic, this place is A1. All the old members seem to be lurking, and if something interests them, they post. If you post something ignorant like politics, religion, etc., the trouble surely follows. Some seem to be unable to resist posting on dumb subjects by trollish people. We can fix a lot of it by not posting on troublesome threads. Anybody know why my amp sounds icepicky? :D

Spot on.

No one wants to be ripped off by buying something that isn't what's advertised. Have you bought a burger from a fast food joint lately and wondered why what you bought doesn't look like the picture on the menu board? The phrase "buyer beware" is ancient and is just as applicable today as it was hundreds of years ago. The onus is on you to make sure you get what you paid for. How in the world do you expect Fender to police the entire market of private sellers to make sure each and every one is selling legitimate genuine Fender parts and products? In the same way you keep popping up as a new person in here, sellers pop up with new and multiple IDs on ebay and rip people off every day. How can anyone police that?

My suggestion to you is to only deal with people you trust. If you don't then the dice may not roll in your favor. Why in the world do you think mucking up this site the way you do is going to fix your problem? Fender didn't sell you the body. Why burn down the neighborhood if someones dog pooped on your lawn? You wont make any friends this way and you will still have your problem.

Thinking about this going-down-the-crapper thing a little longer ... I don't think it's just the trolls who are causing some of our veterans to stand back and lurk. Trolls just throw random things out there to try to get a reaction. I admit we haven't been ignoring them as well as we probably could but there's another kind of poster that creates trouble as well. The nit-picker. There appears to be a number of our newer members who like to scour the threads looking for some little weakness they can exploit to puff themselves up and make themselves look important. A choice of wording, perhaps, that leaves a comment open to misinterpretation and then the cruiser pounces on it. Or sometimes an opinion is given and the cruiser attacks it as though the comment was intended to be a statement of fact when it was clearly expressed as an opinion and nothing more. I try to make sure my opinions are clearly identified as opinions but I still sometimes get attacked for them and I've seen some of our other vetaran posters getting the same kind of crappy treatment. It is especially nausiating when it's some new guy with 200 posts (often less) under his belt and he goes around looking for trouble with the senior members. It seems like there's no respect. I hate to sound like an old geezer making generalizations about the youth of today but this is a problem I see in youth all around me here in the real world of my own neighborhood and even more so on the internet. Facebook is a prime example. I shudder sometimes when some teenager or young stud in his 20s wants to add me because I know I am about to be barraged with a fresh source of disrespect, inappropriate status updates and vulgar link postings. Sometimes I want to ask, "do you kiss your mother with that mouth?" Again, I hate to sound like a geezer but some truths are self evident.

Yah, I figured that part out but what does it have to do with the thread? I'm not catching your meaning. Explain it to me like I'm 5 years old.

Basically, everything will balance out. All of this negative will come to a halt eventually.

Don't count on it.

Either equilibrium will be reached, or this forum will fail. I'm sure there is to much money invested in this site and to many good people here to let that happen.

My suggestion is to add a few more mods to monitor the content a little closer.

I hear ya but there's a problem with that too. I've seen it before on other boards with financial security but member behavior issues. The mods are brought in with instructions and guidelines to follow and lines are drawn in the sand. This far and no farther and the undesirables are culled and pretty soon the board is castrated of all that made it interesting in the first place and it turns into nothing more than a good old boys club where the handful of members who are left are all in one accord on everything and every issue and anybody who doesn't tow the party line is ridiculed until they become subserviant or leave. All serious discussion is lost forever because there are no opposing points of view. Pretty soon there's nothing left to say about guitars and guys start posting pics of their kids and their new fishing rods. I've seen it happen a few times already. With FMIC paying the bills it could very well happen here. Sorry if I sound pessamistic but I've been here before.

I think we need to police ourselves for it to work properly. We need to truly ignore the trolls and nyp the nit-pickers in the bud and let the mods leave the place free to breathe. We all have to work in concert for it to work or it will fail. The alternative is the good old boys club.
