Hi people. See, I don't want to be argumentative and I'm not looking for a row, but I'm afraid I have to disagree with almost every poster on this entire nine page thread.

I think the Forum is not going down the crapper. :D

Here's for why. In a room with clean white walls it only takes one or two guys throwing mud around to make the place look grubby. However, we need to remember that 99% of the users here are not slinging mud and are in fact nice, constructive, fun contributors. And that is a better ratio of good to bad than nearly any other forum I've seen, save perhaps the cake-baking-for-grannies ones. We ain't doing so bad.

Case in point. On a notorious recent thread I returned a couple of days later to discover a Forum user had spent ten pages yelling at me and calling me a fascist. That was kind of surprising, partly because of its rudeness and partly because it is so very far from the truth - which I'd like to think anyone could see without being told. However, because it was so blatently silly it was also hilariously funny and so water off a duck's back.

And most delightfully, I also saw that a whole line of my fellow Forum users had spent those ten pages stoutly defending me from the attack. Which I found completely charming, uplifting and generally brightening of the day.

I was left with a very warm feeling about what a good bunch of people I have the honour to share this place with. The Forum itself may be just cyber-geekery, but far off at the ends of thousands of miles of copper wire and 3G airwaves there are real people, and the overwhelming majority of us here are fine and decent.

That's a happy thing! 8)

I also think the fact people can be bothered to spend nine pages on threads like this one worrying about how to keep the place positive is in itself also good.

So thumbs up to all of us, guys. We're doing OK.

This post has been written to the sound of Ry Cooder's version of I Think it's Going to Work Out Fine. One of the prettiest tracks ever recorded, and my personal Fender Forum Anthem:

Cheers guys - C

I just came back from the crapper and didn't see "this place" there so, there's still hope! :D

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

Well said Ceri! We´re doing just fine friends!
I do wonder about your expectations. I am sure YOU can propose interesting, valuable content. Most of us do, I believe. And I keep coming back for that warm feeling I get from being in touch with you all! Also I welcome the food fights and all.
By the way, my Strat can kill your Strat any day!
And this complaining and asking Brad to intervene... Brad is like a kind parent, IMHO he does a great job in assisting our communications and growth!

I love hanging out with you all here for topics Fender and beyond. I get laughs, knowledge, I have gotten priceless advice and support on my personal affairs...

Best wishes everyone and have a great week fellow axe-men!

Thats a fairly insensitive evaluation to be honest, for people struggling with mental issues, whether it be anxiety, depression or anything else, it is like wrestling with your demons every second of the day. In some ways they are far braver than the people who breeze through life without these intrusive thoughts standing in their way.

That is exactly the kind of peer responses that drove the teen-ager I was referring to to commit suicide....
I'm sure you'll make a great coach someday with that kind of shallow thinking...

To some, what one write may be taken in jest..to other's it may be as written in stone...
It's always advisable to assess impact before hitting that submit key.... :?:

Meh.

Ever the cry "entertain me", rather than do something worth looking at.

This site has always had idiots on board. They didn't ruin it, they never have. The self righteous attitudes of a good few posters on these boards towards those idiots are ruining it though.

Being a victim of actual bullying, I think I can speak for myself. There were kids who would beat up on me until I eventually retaliated, pre social networking. These kids retaliate against themselves. They chose to kill themselves when they could have given it right back. In case you haven't realized, cyber bullying is nothing more than kids thinking they're tough via social network. People at my school (and I'm sure others) have gotten sick of it and actually started organizing fights for the people who continuously talk $@!& online. I think that's the only real solution to it.

-You have spoken well. Tell now of the Crapper, and Enlightenment.
¨No enlightenment, no crapper. Just empty void of existence¨.
-Who dares to insult me?
¨I don´t know.¨
