I had the most incredible time here. I don't think I will ever top this concert. First of all, I met pretty much everyone who was playing there, second, I met some of my childhood heroes, The Casualties, and got all of their autographs, third, the whole place was packed with energy, there was not a dull moment at all.

I went with a friend that I met at a Misfits show the previous year, named Jesus. I've never seen him walk on water, but I can assure you, he walked on a crowd tonight.

The Casualties had a contest for a t shirt, a team mosh pit contest. It was called chicken-mosh, the idea of the game was to get a big guy to put a little guy on his shoulders and use your little guy to knock other little guys off. Anyways, Jorge picked me and Jesus to do this game, and out of 3 teams, we came in second, which is still not bad, considering how hard this actually was.

Then, Jorge stopped the band, and decided to do a role reversal. Basically, he said all of the people that were on the floor were to get on the stage, and the band would play down there. I got this on film, but sadly the mic to my camera wasn't working properly, so none of it was picked up. (I'll upload the video later.)

After that, I was jumping on and off stage, diving, etc. I was thrown off by security 3 times for singing with the band. (even though they were very specific in saying "Our stage is your stage. We're here to have fun, and we want you to have fun with us.") There was a seriously drunk man who security threw off at least 10 times. The second time, they picked him up by his shirt and threw him flat on his face and he slid a good 2 feet. There was a man who tried to stage dive on to me, so I jumped to the side and let him hit the floor.

There was another band playing (the name escapes me) but there were Scotsmen playing bagpipes and a mandolin fused with punk. It was incredible. Anyways, I got loads of food from the bar and was eating right next to the stage. I started feeding the band members as they were playing. A kid saw me feeding them and thought it was hilarious, so we hung out for the rest of the show. He was involved in a mosh pit that involved the whole floor, and was knocked on his face, causing his 2 front teeth to go through the top of his lip.

The picture of the coffin bass/cello is from the band Nekromantix. I'm guessing it was totally home made, because it was ply wood with a single pickup screwed under the fretboard. There was wiring running all up and down the front of it (even if the pic quality is poor, it's there.) It looked like he ripped the neck off of a cello and used some kind of shelving bracket to mount it. It had a really incredible sound, though. It had almost a normal bass sound, but there was this funky clicking in the background that from him slapping it.

Over all, this show was incredible. I've never had so much fun or so many awesome experiences from one show. I'll write about more stuff tomorrow, I'm really too tired to write too much more.

James, crazy story, mad pics, thanks for posting. Glad that you enjoyed/survived the show, were they selling hazard insurance at the ticket booth? :D

Your insurance was the crowd, if that makes sense. If they liked you, they'd catch you. They didn't like those guys I described, and luckily I didn't fly far. (though I had all of the guys in the crowd around me, at least 10, laughing all night)

Maybe it was a stupid question, but I asked them to play my grad party in 2 years.

There was also this girl there, cute as hell. Probably not more than 17 years old, and 5 feet tall. She had bright red hair, I guess you could say she was a 'firecracker' because I have never seen someone so passionately mosh. I was impressed enough to push 2 people aside to make an opening for her when Nekromantix came on stage. We talked and headbanged for a bit. While we were headbanging, her hair ended up in my mouth a few times. After they were done playing, and the place was slightly quieter, I said "Hey, your hair was in my mouth several times." "Oh no, I'm so sorry, I didn't realize..." "No, it's fine. Your hair tasted good, what kind of shampoo do you use?" *both of us burst into loud laughter, then jump into a pit together when the next song starts*

I also may have gotten hit in the face a few times, because half of my face/nose swelled up today. Still had a great time!

Interesting.......You can also get the music, the crowd, get pushed around, beat up a bit, and meet cute chicks [for free] riding the NYC subway during rush hour...and...if you're daring enough to jump a turnstile w/o being arrested for it, it's free. Otherwise, a couple of bucks. Of course, you might not get to hang out with your heroes, but you might find some new ones, the ones who beat the crap out of someone who tried to mug you. Typical heavy metal stuff....

I was actually on the DC subway to pick up a client's computer during rush hour and I got the full experience. Never thought I'd be attracted to a woman in a pant-suit. She was hot, though, she rocked it.

Well, it's ok to assume that they all smell just as bad as the rest.

You are when they're head to toe in spikes. Even his combat boots. Plus he got a running start. I don't want to be like this.

Another one. My friend sent this to me. I was trying to adjust my camera to film at the time, most likely.
