It was about 2pm when I took this picture. Our outdoor sensor is located under our patio cover on the east side of our house.
What's worse, although there has been some rain in our area we haven't received any here. The grass in my yard is brown and crunchy. At leasst i don't have to mow.
I'm watering some trees hoping to save them. We lost 5 last year due to the heat and lack of rain.

It's 2:42 now and the outside temp is reading 110.3º. :(

What's the weather like where you live?

Ah, I've spent time in Bangkok too. In my experience it wasn't so much the heat as the humidity that was hard work in that town. And the pollution. Though that was in winter: I dread to think what it's like in summer. Has the monsoon started yet?

I was in north-west India through a long summer one time. It regularly climbed to 50C / 122F in the shade in the middle of the day. Yikes! That's the hottest I've ever been and it really was too much.

17C / 63F here in London today. Boring - but sunny, and that's good enough for me!

Cheers - C

Several days in the upper 90's and about a dozen or less days in the 100's are not unusal here during our summers. I don't recall how many 100º days we had last summer, but I do remember at one point having over 30 days in a row. Again I don't remember how many, but several of those were as high as 115º.
This summer seems to be starting out as bad or worse than last year. The lack of rain plus the high temps makes it almost unbearable to step outside, much less do any type of activity when you do. Our band discussed this last March when we started booking gigs. We decided not to book any outdoor gigs.
Actually much more of this......and the wind starts kicking up the dust......well I may just start singing Woody Guthrie songs!

Well, for starters, it's always wet here, and it's very salty. My pineapple house is somehow still holding up, even though it's been there since 1998 or 1999. Never have too many extremes in the weather though, so that's a plus.

No outdoor gigs? Good idea. I experienced the heat there. Not something you choose. i was stationed in Albuquerque long ago, it wasn't that hot but for a northern boy, it wad sweltering.

Albuquerque???? Been in the Texas panhandle a few times myself. Summers can be pretty hot and dry.

The temps and lack of rain we have experienced last summer and so far this summer is extreme for this area. We're probably cloes to 15" under our average rainfall for this time of year.

We've played lots of outdoor gigs in the past, but the temps were usually in the low 90's. Most of those outdoor gigs were played in the morning or early evening as well.

The big factor is our age. We aren't youngsters anymore. Unloading, setting up, playing the show, tearing down and then loading back up in this heat.......well it's just something we don't care to do anymore.

Hey Buxom,
I live close by a lake, but it's not much relief in this heat. Feels like your jumping into some nice warm water to cool down!

Here in Houston Texas it's only supposed to get up to 92 today with the humidity pretty low at 57%. It's a really nice day here!

Wait 3 weeks though.

Summer temperatures are all over the place here:

20 degrees C (68 F) by day to -90 degrees C (-130 F) by night. This really wreaks havoc on guitars!
