Didja notice the Amp Can next to the Line-6? That was an idea that never came to fruition. I actually figured I might take an electric guitar when I went out camping with the boys and the dirt bikes. Never happened yet and doesn't look like it ever will. I still take an acoustic with me for the evening fire. Another piece of gear with no resale value.

That's becauses the Crate Taxi remains the best of the lot and Fender apparently decided not to compete in that race. I've both the Taxi and the Limo and the Taxi's gain channel is really superb in a 30W battery powered amp.

After my son moved out I took over his former bedroom. I finally have a place to consolidate all my gear instead of having it scattered around the house in various closets, etc.

@ Strat Cat: re:Guitars for Vets....I have them on my favorites just in case and I'm considering sending them two acoustics. I need to make room here in my new digs. Have you had dealings with them?

Yes ZZDoc, I taught basic guitar lessons at the VA here in Madison on their behalf, with guitars supplied by G4V.
Six weeks of one hour lessons per student and after the lessons were done they got to keep the guitar! It was very touching to see how their attitudes would brighten up when they have a guitar in their hands.
All of us volunteers had to go through counseling training, because some of the guys (and gals) were really messed up emotionally. Sometimes you'd spend most of the hour lesson just listening to them talk about things going on in their lives- family, work, etc. The guitar lesson is secondary at that point and you become a good listener.
Please do get in touch with them if you have guitars to contribute. They'll take 'em no matter what shape they're in.
I can't think of a better way to "Support the Troops" than to help these people out when they're back home trying to return to civilian life. 8)

No room in the condo for a man cave. I need more real estate! Congrats!

Where you and I live Steve, the prices are affordable. Now's the time to strike if you have the cash. [BTW: soon as I'm fully settled in I'll have you all by. Likely early fall the way the perimeter improvements are going. Last on the list is my own man cave which may have to serve to store guests on an overnite.] The battle royal is on as to whose turf it is and who makes the final design choices. :?

I sacrificed space for location, but I never get to the beach even though it's just across the street. A coworker of mine lived across the street on the sand side. He left the beachside condo for a house in the 'burbs because he had no time for the beach, either. But you still have to put up with all the bad stuff -- traffic, congestion, the bloody drawbridge, hurricane evacuations, etc. It makes me wonder (like The Clash) should I stay or should I go. Should I stick it out to reach retirement or get something bigger inland and build my man cave? I just don't know.

allright all you cave dwellers... there are some really cool dungeons out there, but it's time to show you what the kid's been cookin' 8)
Ladies (well, maybe not in the case of the "man cave" thread) and gentlemen,
The Wretch Recording Laboratory and Solitude Studio (since 1983)... where compromise is a way of life. Been working on this since October, and yeah, I'm pretty happy with it.

well, the compromise over the years (54 + of them) has been never having the money to afford the "real thing" when it came to equipment. When Wretch first started out in '83 I was using a small mixer I bought at Radio Shack (you can see it next to the turntable in the photo with my youngest son in it), a cassette deck I bought used, and a Tascam reel-to-reel I also bought used.
That being said, I'm still using electronics I've had for 30 years. I've become somewhat of an expert plugging things in here and there and making equipment do things they weren't really designed to do... and why? (one might ask)... because I couldn't afford the one piece of equipment I needed to do what I wanted to.
Things have smoothed out the past few years and I've been able to buy some better things, but a lot of the stuff in the photos goes back as far as some of those albums hanging on the wall (most of which I bought when they came out).

Guys, thanks for this thread. This will give me so many credits talking to my wife ....

I just want one room for myself, and I'll get it soon.

Cheers

David

Now, David, why do I get the feeling that you are going to use our excessive Man Cave pictures to show your wife how bad things could be?

"See, honey," says David, "These guys are all completely over the top. I don't want anything like these guys have, I just need one little room..."

Go for it!

isn't that how all you guys started it? 8)

As per now, she understands that a man needs a Tele, a Strat and an acoustic guitar. She doesn't know about a Paula yet

Cheers
