No room in the condo for a man cave. I need more real estate! Congrats!

Where you and I live Steve, the prices are affordable. Now's the time to strike if you have the cash. [BTW: soon as I'm fully settled in I'll have you all by. Likely early fall the way the perimeter improvements are going. Last on the list is my own man cave which may have to serve to store guests on an overnite.] The battle royal is on as to whose turf it is and who makes the final design choices. :?

Wishing will not make it so. Give her a new credit card she hasn't exhausted yet and send her out shopping for the day with your blessings.

Man Cave. How wrong is it to have to declare a spot in the house as your cave. Bah!

Really though. I too have been (lucky) able to carve out a small spot in the basement to call my own when it comes to my guitars and amps. It sure makes it nice to be able to grab an axe, jack in, flip a switch and play.

Two thumbs up mate.

Pictures please.

Every guitar player needs a space of his own.

The east wall - the CD collection, the PA, for when I want to really FEEL the music... 3,000 watts and 18" subs.

Image

The west wall, where the recordings come together...

Image

The north wall - where guitars come to hang out...

Image

Image

The south wall - where I slide in and out and a few amps sit around...

Image

It's only 12' by 18' and there's still plenty of work to do, but it's climate controlled year round and it's mine, all mine!

That's ideal. I'm planning a space that size right now. I'll show that to my wife. She will still want it to accommodate a queen size inflatable mattress for when the family visits. :?....and....oh yes.....no visible wires!!

And I mean that with all due respect and my fullest envy.

Here's one fer ya'll...What I see in the various photos begs the following question....

IS IT BETTER TO KEEP GUITARS STORED IN THEIR CAVE CASES OR HUNG ON THE CAVE WALLS?

[This may be as controversial the maple vs rosewood conundrum.i ]

Sorry to hijack the thread for a moment, but this may be of interest to all dwellers.

Have at it please.

I would say in the case. More stable climate. But as CRGuitarman says :
Quote:
it's climate controlled year round

Then the wall/stand would be best. Unfortunately I have most guitars on the wall/stands but no climatic control :(

My goal in life is to have a music room like CRGuitarman's...he has set the standard as far as I'm concerned.....but this will have to wait until my two sons leave home, and that's several years away.
What I have for now is a man corner in my basement with guitars, recording equipment and wine cellar. It is climate controlled, so the guitars are in guitar racks which is the best way to keep them as far as I'm concerned, but then i don't have all that many

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Or, and I mean no disrespect to Dennis...a studio like BMW-KTM's.
I don't think I'll get as many guitars, though...only a couple more than my current 3 8)
I'd definitely get more recording equipment :)
I may have to move to Wild Rose Country once the kids are on their own!

A man corner sounds great! Do you have to share the corner?

I had a man room for my music gear, but my adult children play, too. And they seem to think it is where they should store their gear and practice when they come to visit. :)

Alexei,
You may not be aware, but you have just raised the bar(pun intended)with the addition of a wine cellar to your man cave

Salute!
