Who here enjoys a good Cigar from time to time and what would it be? I no they are not healthy but sure there are some who indulge.
I like the Alec Bradley American Classic among others like Punch Grand Cru and Upper Cuts also Oliva Nubs.

I have before. I met up with some old friends earlier this year and right after my friend chucked a fresh pack of cigarettes down a storm drain, we meet up with another friend we hadn't seen in 2 years. We went to his house and he pulled out a little wooden box, in it were some nice cigars. Not sure where he got them, but we all walked in the woods, found a nice clearing, sat down in a circle, and smoked cigars and caught up. They had a rich, almost sweet, taste.

Another thing I like is hand rolled cigarettes, but that's a totally different ball game.

The only "good" cigars that I like are Macanudo. I will go cheap every so often and buy the small mini cigars like Backwoods that you can buy at the 7-11 or somewhere. They are pretty decent cigars for the money.

I like the Macanudo. I'm no where near a connoisseur of cigars but do enjoy one every now an then.

I had a wonderful one down in St Thomas in the V.I. last year. Wish I remembered the name. :( It did cost about $25 though, so I'm told...it was a gift. :)

Romeo y Julieta is a very good brand. I enjoy them every now and then, but rarely because I've found that I'm very sensitive to nicotine and got sick last time I smoked one.

all the hype over Cuban cigars only exists because they are banned from legal import here  I have had a few over the years and they are just like any other cigar, some are good and some are crap.
I prefer a good old fashion pipe for those special occasions anyways. quality pipe tobacco doesn't stink near as bad afterwards and is much smoother. but the Acid brand cigars are quite good

Yup, I agree. The Cubans just have a cache because they are banned in the USA.
The Dominican Republic make fine cigars.

yep, as long as its not made of floor scrapings and dry as a 10 year old Christmas tree, any Dominican cigar is just as good

I like Romeo y Julietas as well, but my favourites for canoe trips are Meharis Sweet Orient...a Dutch / Sumatran cigar. Sumatran tobacco has more flavour than Cuban or Dominican tobacco to my palate.
Pipes are good too...very aromatic with the right tobacco and a source of endless fiddling. I particularly like the fact that you can usually put them in your pocket and not set yourself on fire. 8)

I cannot get it anymore, but I used to get a pipe tobacco at a local shop that was amazing! the jar simply said "Emporium" and it was hand blended by an old man at the shop. unfortunately he passed away and his recipe died with him
it was simply sublime. I cannot verbally explain the taste, but it smelled JUST LIKE fresh baked Chocolate chip cookies  it always gave anyone around false hopes

Stop it!!!! You've now got me wondering where I left my pipe?? Must go and check the pockets of my old sweaters :)
On a more serious note, when I was last in Chicago I was told that I must go to Iwan Ries - the oldest family owned tobacco store in the US. I went...the store is upstairs... and as soon as I walked through the front door, there was this fantastic aroma of fine tobaccos...cigars and pipe tobaccos from all over the world. Far be it from me to advocate smoking, but this was heavenly.
Got to get back to Chicago!
cheers,
Alex

I like Perdomo but I'd also try any with Connecticut wrapper.
