Yesterday it was Jon Lord, now Funk Brother bassist, Bob Babbitt. :(

Babbitt's gymnastic, groove-rooted bass work bolsters classic recordings including Smokey Robinson's Tears Of A Clown, Stevie Wonder's Signed, Sealed, Delivered, The Temptations' Ball of Confusion, Marvin Gaye's Mercy, Mercy Me (The Ecology), Edwin Starr's War, Gladys Knight & The Pips' Midnight Train To Georgia and The Capitols' Cool Jerk.

Time to pull out the 'Standing in the Shadows of Motown' and watch Bob and the rest of the Funk Brothers doing their thing. One of the greats.

You know what? I've had it with this dying business. When you look around and everyone you looked up to has passed on....then you have got to be next. Hope Carol Kaye lives a very, very long time. She's all that's left of what I consider to be my major influences.
