Hey Tim, don't know how old you are, but Bob "The Bear" Hite and Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson passed away a long ways back. I think Alan Wilson is actually part of the "27 Club". What a shame. If you really want to hear something cool, try a record called "Hooker- N- Heat". Great stuff.

I've always been a huge fan of both John Lee and Canned Heat. I got to see John Lee Hooker at the Chestnut Cabaret in Phila, Pa in the 80's. I got to stand three feet from him and got to chat a little with him after the show. What a nice man he was.

John Lee Hooker is my all time favorite. Along with Canned Heat will be Bobby Blue Bland and Jimmy Thackery. It will be a good show. Sunday will be Mavis Staples which I really can't wait to see.

I saw Bobby Blue Bland I guess about eight years ago. He still does that snorting thing. He was good. Bobby Rush was on the bill too. What's the lineup in Canned Heat these days?

+1

I remember seeing Canned Heat, Quicksilver Messenger Service, and the Flying Burrito Brothers at the Avalon Ball Room in late '67 or early '68. What an awesome show!

And all for the paltry sum of $5.50.

In the early 70's I saw Frank Zappa and the Mahavishnu Orchestra for $5.50 at the Spectrum in Phila. Pa. same with Ten Years After, Alice Cooper, Suzi Quatro, Johnny Winter, The Kinks, Frampton's Camel, BTO, Springsteen, Cheap Trick and the list goes on and on. Usually two bands and they called them "Dance Concerts". No assigned seating, first come first serve. Ut was nuts. The whole place reeked of weed so bad you could smell it outside from the ventilation systems fans on the roof.
