I should of never offered. :x

I hope I didn't anger him by constantly telling him to "GET YOUR ELBOW OFF YOUR LAP".

Man, I forgot how unnatural it is to play guitar. The simple things like how to hold a pick, fingers being perpendicular to the fretboard etc, that were all used to, seems so strange to someone new.

I need to learn patience while teaching. And I hope I am leading him in the right direction by telling him to do what he wants with the G-C and D I taught him. Give him some time alone and on his own.

Those three chords can go a long way!

Have him learn the whole book and then have him come back for another lesson -- should be good to go for weeks! :)

i've actually taught a few folks to play. one eventually became music director at his church. funny thing is that all he wanted me to teach him was metallica. he learned that and went on a differnt' path. what always aggrivated me was folks who thought one lesson was all they needed. that it was easy. they wouldn't practice at all when they were alone. i've been playing over 20 years and i still practice ALOT. the 2 guys that got good would actually come back and say " listen to this, i got it down finally". that always made me feel good.

The first few guys I taught were Metalica/speed metal heads, so I know the drill.

Luckily this guy is Country and that makes it easier on me. 3 lessons so far, and he is showing some improvement and has his own guitar coming. He is an older guy, maybe 50, and he is still interested in learning.
