Gorgon, you are beyond belief. If you are in some kind of pride-state right now because you think you are the lone voice of reason standing up for what's right then you are sadly mistaken. You are in the wrong. Period. Yes, that's right. You are the one who is in the wrong. You are singling a man out, you are taking comments he made which are none of your business and using them out of context against him in a personal attack. The worst part is that even though we've all tried to help you to see your error, you just blindly press on even louder without even pausing for a second to consider your own guilt. How can you be so brain-dead as to think that it's you who are in the right here? Go back and read my last post because I don't think you read it the first time.

You know? I feel sorry for you. I knew a man like you when I was a kid. Stubborn as cattle. And just like a cow it took someone cracking him across the forehead with a fence post to get his attention long enough for him to see how stupid he was being. I'm glad I don't know you in real life. I'd hate to have to be there and witness your wake up call and believe me some day you will get one. People like you always do.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Funny, just a reminder that everyone is Human....
On another note, the lens behind Clapton suggests to me that he is at a sports event...
Wimbledon perhaps... :?: :?:

It occurs to me that perhaps the photographer caught him at the moment of realization and correction of the fact that the lens was still covered. As far as Leica's were concerned..in my 'yute' it was the Rolls Royce of 35mm cameras. In fact, I know a guy who had borrowed two cameras from a friend to do some closeup photography. When he showed it to me I asked him if knew what he had there. Being 14 yrs my junior he had no idea that he was handling a Leica M3 and a Rolleflex.

"Damn Custom Shop, always complicating matters!"

In reality, this has become a "Bash Clapton Thread"', I'm sure he reads all the posts and is very sad. Hmmmm, maybe that's where he gets his inspiration to play the blues.

Poor Eric, he'll have to go out and spend a few more millions!

Your absolutely right Doc. Leica and Rolleflex are still great cameras. Besides being precision machines, the glass for these cameras is incredible.
When I started my photography business, I went with medium and large format cameras. I had to go with Mamiya because I couldn't afford Hasselblad. Mamiya are fabulous cameras too, but didn't carry the prestige of a Hassleblad.

I happened to be pottering around Europe last summer and whilst in Cologne stopped with a friend to check out the camera store....

They had a few beautiful Leica's in the store, but unfortunately neither of us had 35,000 euro to hand

As a professional photographer, it happens more than you'd think. It's a lot easier with a rangefinder because you can still see through the viewfinder. Clapton wasn't seeing black.

Now if Clapton was staring at his amp and wasn't plugged into it and wondering why it's wasn't working, that would be funny.

If there is any positive to take out of this thread it has inspired me to pick my camera back up. Dug out my old 35mm to learn about the aperture and shutter speed and all that jazz again, plus the thrill of not knowing what you've shot is exciting, along with having to put in a bit more thought than with digital.

Plus you can get some great photos with the 35mm slrs which are dirt cheap nowdays.

4x5 photography will seriously make you think. It's too slow and the film is really expensive.
I still shoot large format photography.
