but he may have been referring to Acid Rain which was a big deal in the 70's which also may well be the era of this mighty fine guitar.

So when I got the guitar, I had my camera in hand and took it apart and looked at everything "suspiciously." BUT, everything was era correct, right down to the pickups, wires, pots and stamps in the neck socket, etc. I noted the small round inspection stickers with a clear coat finish on them, just like all the other Fender bodies I have seen. No smells of fresh paint either. No orange peel, which is common for a fake or refinish job. The guitar's body had been finished out professionally like Fender does. Even the small round, era correct place, where a sticker was placed to expose the flat black shielding paint in the pickup route—again just like Fender does. No signs of poorly covered "old paint" there or anywhere else inside the body.

I have contacted China, and they have no record of this finish.

The brand is, "El Kabong". It has a unique s/n: "M-A-D-E--IN--I-N-D-O-N-E-S-I-A". It has plastic pickups in it and comes with a zippered dust cover. I know it is quite valuable but how much is it really worth?

Also, what pickups would I have to put in it to make me 'nail' Jimi Hendrix's tone? I play mostly nursery rhymes and have an equally rare, battery powered amp of the same name with a 2" speaker and the same s/n as my guitar which I'm sure makes it even more valuable! :D :D :D

TIA.

no picture of a cartoon horse dressed as Zorro? Pfft... fake!

Personally, I think you're missing the joke of this thread. But concerning this guitar body, if I'm not mistaken, it looks to me like there's some orange peel and funkiness going on in the glare of the lighting on the upper horn. And I'm using an iPhone.

I can't believe this thread is still alive, but you can never talk to much about such a RARE guitar as this one!

It's been a couple days now and I still chuckle when I think about contacting China. There are just soooo many openings there that even if I was inclined to toss in a grenade or two I wouldn't know where to start.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I remember the last time I had lime Jello, it was the day before I was discharged from the Army.

Fish sticks aren't as good as they used to be years ago though.

You're right...I think it's due to the fact that pretty much everything that's left over at the bottom of the boat goes into the fish sticks nowadays.
They're cheap though and the kids don't seem to mind them too much if they are doused with ketchup.

I'm not familiar with hollowbodies!

Lot's of feedback in high gain settings, I assume.

As far as the tuners are concerned: they do not change the tuning of the strings because there are no strings, they're rather used to turn in different talent modes. You can tune in "Stevie Ray Vaughan", "Jimi Hendrix" and "Smokin' Frets" with the latter being the talent favorized by most guitarists in the world!! Sound like your idol with just one turn on the tuner!

I like the pickup configuration, though.

This guitar is a very rare instrument, manufactured in the Indonesian "High Noon" factory.
The model is called "The Colt". The name derives from the mindblowing invention to have a kind of turntable with pickups in a circular arrangement.
The pickup in neck position always is the "active" one, the others are switched off.
If you want the typical strat "quack", simply turn the turntable until the duck shaped pickup is in neck position!!
For flower power booze sounds (LSD sound!), just turn the flower shaped pickup into neck position!
On the picture you see the mighty "The Birds Signature Pickup" activated. You can instantly play The Birds covers without excercising and without using tabs!!

The red star shaped pickup makes you play like a rock star.

WARNING!!!! Be careful when using the center pickup!! If you overdo it, your audience might grow green hair and a mustache!! That would be a pitty! With nothing but gren haired men in your audience there will be no one throwing a bra onto your stage while lifting her T-Shirt and screaming your name!! ..... or wait ..... maybe they will! *shudder*

And so on....... This guitar is the most versatile instrument in the world but it's also the most dangerous!! I'd say it's priceless!!

BTW, if the pickup turn table doesn't turn, then the guitar is broken and useless. BURN IT!!!
