I remember Roy Clark "pickin' and a grinnin'" with Buck Owens on Hew Haw when I was a kid, but I guess I never quite realized just how awesome a guitarist he was/is. I came across some of his stuff on Youtube this evening and was just blown away!

He's almost 80 and apparently still tours -- I'd love to check him out if he makes his way up to the northeast!

Roy Clark is a legendary guitarist/multi-instrumentalist! He is still amazing, even at his age. He is also a fellow Freemason and last year, he played a little gig here in Richmond, VA at the Scottish Rite (He's also a 32° Scottish Rite Freemason too).

An amazing player. He was also "Cousin Roy" on the "Beverly Hillbillies".

If you like Roy, I posted this about a year or two ago. Look for the video with Roy and the green Baldwin 12 string electric.

Both great and add Glen Campbell to that list from that era.

That's some nice tremolo picking from Roy -- and a pretty wild guitar, too!

Yeah, I guess between Grandpa Jones' goofy jokes and all the girls getting bumped on the behind with the fence panel, I hadn't really thought about all the excellent musicianship on the show. I know Buck was pretty phenomenal, too...

For me it was, and is, Lisa Todd "Sunshine" She is the most physically perfect woman I have never seen in real life. TV babe lust #1 (I sense a new thread coming to fruition)

Hee Haw is my favorite show. Reruns Sundy nights on RFD TV. You can see roy in action in the glory of his youth.

I love the Baldwin 12 string!

He was a great player, and I also grew up watching Hee Haw every Sat night, picking and grinning. But there were always some hot girls on that show!

He is actually one celebrity that I met in my life. I was working for College Satellite Network in Nashville and we spent two nights in the Grand Ole Opry. So we're setting up for the first night and I'm cruising down a hallway with a big roll of cable, I round a corner and plow into someone, almost knocking him over. Turned out to be Roy Clark! I apologized and called him by name, he said he was surprised I knew who he was since my KISS shirt didn't make me appear like his average fan! Told him I grew up on the HH show and we talked for a few minutes, he showed me some of the sets for HH. Really nice guy, of course I had no camera.
