When I was using PC I had to solve computer problems all the time. Learned a lot from it !

So where does one go to buy a refurbished MacBookPro? Until this moment I had no idea anyone would sell such a thing.

Right here
http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/mac

My iMac, ipod and ipad are all refurbished. I've never had a single problem with any of my Apple refurb stuff. Epson is another story. They come with a full factory warranty and you can even get the extended Apple warranty for not a lot of money.

Yah, that ain't gonna happen. I run pricey high end gear. I'm not going to triple my cash outlay instead of doubling it. Also, I just noticed that Apple recently deleted all 17" options from the MacBookPro line since they came out with "retina" displays. Maybe they'll bring it back at a later date. Maybe not. Looks like fate is conspiring against me for the time being. I need 17".

I like 17" laptops too. That's what I run in the house. In my photo studio, I run twin 21.5" monitors, it's really nice. Both color calibrated too. Takes up a bit of desk space though.

There is one other little nitpick about Apple notebooks and that's the lack of a built in numeric keypad on their (now defunct) 17" model. Most Windows Notebooks have them on the 17" models. It almost seems as if Apple thumbs their noses at business users and doesn't even want them to switch. I suppose I could get along without the keypad and just consider it an inconvenience but with hardware and software prices in double-Windows territory, lack of available 17" displays, poor Office support and only 2 USB ports instead of 4 like most 17" Windows machines and now it looks like the new retina model has also deleted the internal DVD-Drive the keypad becomes just another item on the list why not to buy Apple. That's not an anti-Apple rant. I WANT Apple to succeed. It's just that they're just not going to until they smarten up and stop deciding for people what's best for them. You don't sell computers to the masses by denying them the very simple and common features they want and expect.

BMW, I believe Apple actually sells a numeric keypad. :? My IMac bluetooth keyboard doesn't have one either. The only business Apple is geared up for is Graphic Arts and Photography.
For the work I do, I can run Adobe Photoshop CS5 the Bridge, Illustrator and watch Netflix on my second monitor or listen to Pandora and have everything open at once and the performance is still better than anything I've ever ran on any of my PC's. I don't know the technical reasons why, but it's pretty cool to bounce around a bunch of programs and still be productive. (unless I get too interested in the Netflix)

The whole numeric keyboard is no big deal for me. I do all my bookkeeping on a PC anyway.

Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad - English (USA)
$49.00

Microsoft - 200 Keyboard
$6.79

I'm sure the Apple keyboard is better for video editing or something

The Apple keyboards are pretty nice though. I've been through lots of cheap keyboards, Microsoft, Logitech and others. Like I said before I have both PC and Apple. For photography, music, and graphic arts I like the Mac.
