Never be afraid to make a mistake.

If you do play a clunker note or mistake, Play it twice and smile. (People will think, He's good, he did that on purpose!)

Relax & pay more attention to your ears than your fingers.

Practice in a mirror, watch your fingers in the mirror. (This will keep you from the nasty habit of staring at your guitar neck AND When you watch a guitar player, you can easily see what he is doing because it's not backwards to you)

Try to never get frustrated, slow down, take a break.

ENJOY

- Number one rule of all time: It is better to play a simpler part and do it cleanly than to try to impress people with flamboyance and muck it up. One little mistake and that's all anybody will remember from your performance, if they know anything about playing guitar that is. Showboats who play sloppily are a dime a dozen. Keep it simple and do it well. As an aspiring musician, this is one of the facts of life that you will have to come to terms with. Humility before pride.

- Play with a little less grind or drive in your gain stage than you think you should have. You may not think you have enough gain but you do. What the crowd hears is not what you hear.

- Avoid time based FX until you have mastered your instrument and even then use them sparingly ... unless you're into U2 or surf.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Get off the internet and play your guitar.

I could of swore I read something saying "practice when you want to, don't force yourself".

I also said to pay attention to your right hand, but you didn't note that. You might as well give up now because you don't have what it takes to be a musician. You only hear what you want to hear and filter everything else out.

Are you serious? I only said the first thing because paying attention to my right hand has nothing to do with getting off the internet.

You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done.
Now Ev'ry gambler knows that the secret to survivin'
Is knowin' what to throw away and knowing what to keep.
'Cause ev'ry hand's a winner and ev'ry hand's a loser,
And the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep."

If you meant guitar specific things-Don't bother arguing with strangers on the internet, there are no winners.

That's an amazing quote, and it's completely true. I'm going to write it on the back of my guitar.

Awesome.... You really really be rewarded if you stick with it....
