along with the confirmation email and CAPTCHAs,
require them to answer 3 random questions about fender.
you also must fill in a box with the words " I am not a spammer"
then answer 3 more multiple choice questions about fender products.
also have a 48 hour wait before you can post your first thread.

that may deter some of these spammers :D the questions can be googled but most spammers wouldn't take the time to do this.

Good points, but I'm a big fan of less bureaucracy...why don't we just leave things as they now are and simply ignore the spammers....though in fairness, I didn't this time
That said, the 48 hour rule for an initial post might not be a bad idea.
cheers,
alex

AlexeiY This one was so odd you cant help but click :? at first I thaught it was someone going to ask about RAIL pickups... I got all excited and wanted to give my advise, but nooo  its just someone shoving spam in my eyes

honestly who on here would actually email this guy for scrap? do these spammers not think? the easiest course of action would be to just ignore them. but what about the people that get suckered in to it? I would feel much more at ease making them work for it 8)

You're right about trying to keep people from getting suckered...I'm all for that too. I just was listening to an interview on our national radio (CBC) about some of the email spam and the question arose as to why is a lot of the spam so obviously bogus "Royal Family from wherever with a lot of money to transfer" sort of stuff, and the reply was that many of these spammers (not all by a long shot, thankfully!) are actually quite intelligent and are screening for the really, really gullible people, and the sad fact is that beyond a certain point, there's not a lot that can be done to shelter such people further from these criminals.
Now, can I interest you in some property that I have here in Canada 8)
Best,
Alex

Yes! I would love some property there , should I pay 10'000 up front? which account in the Cayman islands should I send the money to? or do you just need my bank account account information and social security number for a transfer? I guess some people do deserve to get duped
