I don't know if there is such a thing, I am not talking about abuse, just accidents. Dropping it, sliding off the couch, dog knocking it over, kids playing with it etc...

If its going to get torn up quick (not on purpose) your best bet for price and durability is a MIM Strat or a squier Jazzmaster. For the price and quality i would go MIM Strat 400 bucks and you have a great playing guitar thats not worth the price of your car. Another thing that might help with dog and children is a wall hanger you can order them off line for 20 bucks. Keeps it away from kids or dog.(Depends if you have a dog that ways more then you)

Personally, I'd say an Esquire. It's a thick plank of wood with all the rest of its minimal and vital components being of, or shielded wholly or in part by metal. As with any guitar though, in this context, the necks are all equal.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

For me it would have to be a tele. You can use them to defend yourself in a bar room brawl and never even put a dent in it .

I played one at the Dallas guitar show once and its actually a great sounding instrument.
does have a slight tin/twang to it. but that space travel appearance makes up for it they are a tad neck heavy though. i have often thought about getting one
as a bonus if needed it can double as a battle axe

With 6 strings a Fender USA Telecaster or Esquire hardtail. With 4 Strings a Fender USA Precision Bass or one of the late 60's Telecasters. The other poster is correct, these can be used as battering rams to clear a path out of a club with little to no damage...to the instrument anyway.

But about any Fender is pretty durable so long as you stay away from the tremolo model 6 strings.

I don't think the tremolo breaks easier than the neck pocket of a guitar, but the strings may be the first things to go. I don't think any guitar will hold its tunning after some sort of abuse.

*edit* I may be wrong about the strat Tremolo though.
