Aye! Yes! Bought my first actual vehicle, off of Craigslist too. It's a 1999/2000 Kinetic moped imported from India. I originally managed to talk the guy down to $200, but when I got there, they didn't have any gas in it, so It couldn't be started on the spot. I told them to make it easy and lower it and they cut it down to $100, and that's great, considering they're $1000 or more new. It was owned by an older man, and was garage kept. It still has the original tires, one of which has rotted out. The carburator is clogged, as it sat for 9 months, but I can take care of that in about 20 minutes. (will be done tomorrow.) I got it started up today, but it stopped (hence, the clogged carb) It only has 109.7 miles on it and needs very little work to be roadworthy again. I feel I got a sweet deal.

I'll post some pics tomorrow. It's dark out right now, and it's locked up for the night.

Congrats. Youll need to pull the float bowl and clean out all the varnish. Check the pilot jet and the needle valve and seat. If you need any help, holler brother. I worked on a few bikes in my day, and even built one starting with a $2 frame.

Ahh yes, I know to close the valve, take it off pan down, wipe and blow the jet, etc. I'll be sure to do some updates. There's also a bit of scraping inside the back wheel bearings, so I'll grease them up when I can. I might take it up to my uncle's garage and get it all pulled apart and the one scrape in the paint touched up. Other than these small things, it's pretty cool. My mom was so mad to see it in the driveway at first, now she's like, "I'm actually kind of glad I won't have to drive you places." just a good feeling, ya know. Freedom, and appreciation for that freedom. I can't wait to take it out, though. My neighborhood is so perfect for bikes. (even had 2 dudes who would race on the weekends til one of them moved) Also, it has a lockbox built into it (not like one of those separate trunks you attach in place of the second seat) It's right above the back fender, built into the frame.

I might get a longer, older Puch Maxi style seat.

Maybe I went a bit crazy, but I hit 35MPH through my neighborhood after pumping up the back tire

Cleaning the carb took me so long, it was under this plate that's bolted to the frame, and was also really high up into the frame. Luckily, the pan/jet parts were facing down, but I had to drain it, because my fuel valve doesn't switch off. (will have to get it repaired)

Also, some neighbor kids started chasing me, so I punched it. Great feeling, tbh.

It's an "E" series KDX 200. 89-94. I built this from the ground up, every nut and bolt.

I like it! :P

Since the fuel petcock doesn't work, you can get by for now by pinching off the fuel line.

My dad wants to drive down here so he can ride it  It was a fun ride, though. Some people were lighting fireworks in the street, and I kinda went through them as well. Oh well, it was great, though. I need new tires now, and I'll be good. My other gear and parts are coming in the mail, and should be here by next week some time.

Yea, I was going to do that, but I didn't have any clamps that would do the job well enough.

Never rode a stock one but I rode a KDX240 one time. (200 with a big bore kit) It was a great bike. Awesome bike. I love the true Enduro class much better than crossers. Used to love my IT175 when I was younger. I still ride an Enduro now, myself. '02 KTM 380 EX/C (last year of the big bore 2-strokes) but I've removed the odometer and the spark arrestor and swapped in a custom multi-taper needle for a little more oomph in the midrange. Very snappy and runs like a raped ape.

Hey, Tex. I've got a bit of a mystery on my hands. This bike doesn't have a battery at all, yet it still runs fine, and all electronics are functioning. Any ideas as to what kind of funky wiring system this may have?

Prolly the standard flywheel set up. The flywheel has magnets that act as a generator to the magneto. Of all the bikes I have ever owned, only one had a battery unless you count the ones I had running total loss ignition. That means no flywheel, and a quick spin up, but they were race bikes and I was running Methanol and a tad of Nitro Methane. WAY back in the day.

The only other bike I owned that had a battery and I bet BMW-KTM guy recognizes this pipe! :D

Ahhhhh, I was assuming it was something like that. I love how the lights get brighter as I go faster. It's a really funny ride, actually. It has the queerest sounding horn I've ever heard. like take a bee buzzing, amplify it, and raise the pitch by a couple octaves.
