I had demoed the Class5 combo when it had first came out and liked it. I was not knocked out by it but, I still felt it had a very good tone. I had tried it out with a Stratocaster. When I saw that they had come out with a head version, the C5H, I decided to get one. I have also heard that they might discontinue making the head as well. From what I have read on forums and such, it suggested this. A salesman in the store told me that they were discontinuing them. I however, feel that this might be hogwash. When I saw the new demo online of the new combo with the .1 watt switch on it, they guy said that the head would not have this feature. This suggest to myself, that they are not going to stop making them yet. You never know how corporate decisions go, so I decided to get the head version. I also found that my Les Paul sounds simply incredible through this amp. Here is a shot of the new toy:

JACSTRAT...nice score and glad you are liking the tone of it. I miss my JCM800 2x12 combo every now and then, but this would make a nice addition to any collection.

Thank you! I love every amp I have now! In the future I want to get a nice cabinet for it. Right now it goes through a closed back 10" cab and, the Jensen P12N in my NOS BJ. I'm glad you can go both 8 and 16 ohms out of it.

Congrats on getting one ass-kicker of an amp.Despite its somehat low Wattage it still captures the tone of the bigger Marshalls and it is a little monster. If you really want good tone put it through a cabinet with Celestion Vintage 30s or G 12 L 25s..Anyway I'm sure that you'll enjoy your amp for years to come, because Marshalls not only sound great but they are as rugged as Sherman tanks.

Hi JACSTRAT: I'd be amazed if they D/C the Class5 because it's a great little amp and as far as I can tell a runaway seller too. I certainly love mine - the first practice amp I've ever been truly satisfied with.

Far as cabs are concerned, have you considered the matching Marshall C110? All I know is I have no complaints at all about the combo version, so...

Enjoy that amp - C
