Good for the most part, your production is pretty impressive. Though, one criticism here; your solo doesn't really sound so much like a solo as it does a student who just learned the scale and is improving in a lesson room, trying to get a feel for it. I mean that as no insult, just saying it sounds like you feel a little awkward with the scales when you solo (not just this song).

Nice tune ,could be used as a soundtrack for some cosy TV-series :D But I have to agree w Floyd on this one- the lead is not exactly floating! Perhaps a bit of vibrato? -adding some reverb to the solo? it's a bit staccato- but keep up the good work

I actually liked the staccatoiness of the solo, but you could definitely mix in some more legato passages.

The only thing I didn't like was that the lead guitar was panned far left and the left speaker on my laptop is wrecked so it just makes everything sound like a big distorted mess.

I do agree with some of the tough criticism already made regarding your lead playing so enough said about that.

The feel of the accompaniment is full. By that I mean it can stand on it's own and less melody might be better. To be clear, my opinion on your accompaniment is not based on the quality of your lead playing. Even a great lead could risk taking away from the accompaniment if it got too busy.

I really liked the bass line except that it needs a little more variation. Not much but enough so that it doesn't sound like a repeating loop.

Now come up with a chorus, a bridge, and some lyrics and finish the song. :P

I feel a bit like you in a way- kind of same musical preferences at your age, never considered lessons :) but later I have given several lessons :D ( that forced me to think of what I was doing!) - and I say like you: I try to play what I hear(in my head) - not conscious of the scales ( but I am aware of the benefits of knowing them,so I advice you to do some scale- training)
IMO the most important with a solo, is that it is convincing- that you perform with a certain authority! That means- you must know exactly what to play, be very familiar with it - OR simply know and trust your scales :D

thanks guys.I will admit that I am so far behind with my playing that it is not even funny.school killed my playing, now I have to try and get it back.I also did try and do something different with the bass, but to my ear it sounded like crap. in my opinion I think I am a good rhythm guitar player, but my solos lack power and punch.although I refuse to take lessons I don't know any scale, and if I do I had no idea I knew them. I just play what sounds right. I think of mostly solos I knew I could play before school started. but I can't play them anymore. if anybody has any tips throw them at me ( let make it a point right now that I will NEVER take lessons). thanks for the help guys.

Howdy, Super. I really liked the snippet. If you want punch and power, play electric. I hate that school hurts your musical career. Nobody is born knowing anything. So if you want to learn and be sharp, you are going to have to gain knowledge from school or a zen guitar master. Eat more pie. 8)
