I really like the front door house key. Allows me to get in my house.LOL

I really like the the key of C. Nothing like a slow blues in C, (ie. Tin Pan Alley).

I just like to avoid Eb and Bb--pretty much anything else is fine, but E & A are easy on guitar--and I like G & D as well--along with the relative minors.

But Eb and Bb goes for minor and major...

Nowadays, it depends on my mood...sometimes A or E...often Am or Dm. G is always good.
Bm can be interesting...the list goes on.

Me too...Am is my favorite key to play blues or jam in,Allman Brothers style.
I can play in any key easily,but it's Am that I go for when I first pick up the guitar.

For options of open slides and let ring and ease of use its hard to go past E, But being a Bluespig of course Am & Dm done to death, G is probably the most bitie old blues sound fun to work with for me, C has a really honky bluesy feel too huh, B is my current Mistress though working on Hendix red house style

As a melodic guitarist, G, C, F and D feel and sound right for the way the melodies are "sung" in the brain.

Its funny huh....You youngsters are more that way with heavy rock sounds these days huh, You just know what notes sound right but aren't stuck thinking about keys. I say this because you being a Aussie may or may not have herd the band trust and fail, I jammed with their lead guitarist a few months back and talking about keys he just looked at me blankly and said just play i'll i'll work it out, He had a great variety of skills but just did not think in keys he just played to his ear, Interesting. He obviously must think structures for his originals or maybe his bass player holds his hand? Works for him, He sounds good with his sweep shredding. I don't get not thinking about keys though...
