I'll spare you the details, but, because my wife was happy with me recently, she gave me a free ticket to buy a new guitar. Here's my current gas list:
1. 2012 Les Paul Standard Honeyburst - This has a compound radius neck, which I have on my Am Dlx HSS Strat and I love. There's one in stock at a local store and I have a 15% coupon.
2. Clapton Strat - I probably want Daphne blue which is going to be difficult to track down. I could probably live with Black but I'd prefer blue.
3. PRS McCarty 58 - This would be the most expensive and since I've never played one, not a serious consideration right now. I hear nothing but good things about PRS and this model intriques me.
What would you guys do if you were in my enviable position?

I'd go for a PRS test drive at least, you've already got a Les Paul and a Strat at home. Variety is good.

Please keep in mind that when the time comes, it would be nice to pass it along to a fellow forum member, rather than some total stranger with a wad of cash. By the way, is it time? :D

I agree about variety. I've done some searching and the PRS McCarty 58 seems to be a fairly rare bird. I think that one will be a long term project to track one down that I can play and decide if it's something I NEED.
I like everything about the new '12 Standard Les Paul. If it's as good as I expect I will probably sell my current LP to fund the Clapton Strat. That's my current thinking.

Im afraid that when the time comes they will have to pry it out of my cold lifeless fingers.

After looking at your current gear list, I'd have to suggest buying a regular stock Stratocaster or Telecaster.

I have a '57 Tele that belongs to a friend and I have on long term loan. It's Seafoam Green, so I'm happy with it. I figure the Clapton Strat would fill my need for an SSS Strat.
