Okay, I think I already know the answer to this one but anyway... So, my favorite local Fender dealer couldn't order one of the recent Blues Jr. FSR's (Chocolate Tweed version) for me because all that were manufactured (only 262 units) are spoken for even though they haven't shipped yet (as far as I know). Okay, I can live with that. If I really wanted one, I could probably find an online Fender dealer who has one on order but I just prefer to send my Fender business to my local dealer -- good people, good deals...

I could just buy a regular (non-FSR) Blues Jr. and recover the cabinet and grill to match the FSR. From what I've read online, that would require removing the chassis from the cabinet (or the other way around, depending on your perspective, I guess). So, I'm guessing that would void the warranty.. It seems recovering the amp enclosure and grill shouldn't interfere with the electronics and my only real concern warranty-wise is with the electronics.

So, for example, if the amp has a 5 year warranty and, after 4 years of use, I couldn't recover the amp even if the tolex or grill cloth is "road worn" without voiding the warranty. I'm guessing "road wear" cosmetic damage isn't covered under warranty.. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking Fender -- warranty issues are probably wrapped up in all kinds of legal ramifications which aren't unique to Fender...

So, now that I've vented a little, my question -- does recovering an amp enclosure or grill void the warranty for all the amp components (particularly, the electronics)?..

Why not just wait until one shows up on Ebay?

Sooner or later it will -- you already know that.
