Here in the UK Boss are doing some charity fundraising and to encourage people to make a small donation by text message they are giving away a prize of all 40 of their compact pedals to one winner:

http://www.roland.co.uk/articles/defaul ... dC5jb20%3d

I entered, and then I started thinking what I'd do if I actually won all those 40 pedals. Obviously I wouldn't want anything like all of them so I'd give many away - but which ones?

The more I think about it the fewer of those pedals do I feel certain I could do without. Nobody needs 15 drive/distortion pedals... but perhaps there's some crucial flavour characteristics to, say, the Overdrive, the Super Overdrive and the Overdrive/Distortion that means I have to keep all three? Nobody needs the DD3 and the DD7 delay pedals... or do they?

...I'm beginning to get the horrible feeling that if I won all 40 Boss compacts I might find myself giving away almost none of them - mwaaahahaha!!!

...I'm beginning to think I definitely don't deserve to win these pedals. :D

If you received ALL of these pedals FOR FREE, which would you give away?

Cheers - C

The chances of you winning might be a longshot, Ceri, but
somebody will end up winning them.

I'd sell them all and get something different like a new
Fender guitar and/or amp. :D

The chances of me winning are even smaller if any of the UK users here follow the link and text a donation. Yet still I'm enjoying myself worrying about it!

It's kinda like getting all anxious about what you'd do if you won the lottery. I try to remind myself it's microscopically unlikely - but I still go on spending that money in my mind! :D

i bet id end up keeping them all you know. Cant imagine the fender twin replication pedal is any good, and theres some kind of full plexi stack replicator thingy (excuse all the technical terms) that ive heard is also pretty bad, and i cant physically bear to be in the same room as a loop pedal... But apart from that i think i would probably keep them all. Is the `clapton` pedal still in their range? ive heard thats fairly awful too!

Its worth entering though just for the chance of winning and seeing the look on lady clams face when i unpack the box with more useless pedals than she`s ever seen in one place. Relationship-ender that would be :D

CH-1 Super Chorus...

See, very reasonably you are getting rid of the Super Chorus because you already have a Chorus Ensemble. But I'm thinking, what if I needed another chorus - for the bathroom, say? Or the kitchen? Maybe I could use a chorus in the car?

Man, I don't even use a chorus pedal very much!

This kinda greedy thinking is the "shameful" aspect of my thread title. :D

Sorry Ceri I couldn't resist, if I win maybe we can arrange some sort of pedal appeasement program from me to you

Anyway the first thing I would do, is unbox them, chain every single one of them in a row, turn all the knobs up to max and see what it sounds like.

You read my mind! :D

And the next thing I'd do is take a photo of the "total" pedal board. 8)

The (Vocal FX) VE-20 and Harmonist (PS-6) are actually pretty cool.

I'd get them all autographed by famous people and offer
a charity auction for the Cancer foundation.

HA!

I've been quietly accumulating pedals over the last 6 months and recently couldn't decide which Phaser to go for, Small Stone or the MXR Phase 100.

I ended up buying both, thinking "Hummm, two Phasers... now that is lavish!".

Then saw the thread title and thought "Holy Crap! Ceri's rumbled me! The Blue Badger knows!"

On topic - Once plenty of Kodac moments have been captured, I'd Sell a few, donate a few, but keep most of them, especially the PH-3 Phase Shifter.... Lavish.

Andy
