I have an Epiphone Les Paul Special II connected to a Fender Frontman 25R amp with a 10 foot long Fender instrument cable. Nothing happens when I play the guitar! WTF! The volume is all the way up on the amp and guitar. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
:(

Hi Mike: could be the guitar or the amp or the cable. You need to try alternatives to each of those to find out where the problem lies. We can then take it from there.

If you don't have an alternative guitar or cable to test... you'll have to find ones you can borrow.

Cheers - C

Hi -

perhaps if you plugged the cable into the amp and set that to a low volume, when touching the tip & sleeve of the other end of the cable there should be at least some clickety-clicking noises. If those noises occur then it is not the amp and not the cable. Which leaves you with the guitar as the bad guy.
Probably cold solder joint or just an output jack issue. More infos please!

Cheers -

Nutter

+1 on above.

That will at least eliminate the cord and amp. If still no luck purchase a small patch cord as used for connecting effect boxes to narrow down to the amp, if no buzzing is heard.

my guess (from a fellow Epiphone owner) is the crappy chinese parts are acting up on you. But ya the test as stated above should rule that out or confirm it. Also, try switching pickup.

Surprisingly, no. Something is wrong with the input jack on the amp. I brought the guitar to GC and they tested it with my cable and it sounded pretty good. I am getting the amp replaced with a Mustang I.

I hope for your sake it's the amp! no really though, listen to guys above. I'm not bashing your gear, but it could be any one of those things. they aren't exactly the best quality.
Shut up! JK lol :) . Yeah I know these things aren't the best but I made a deal with my dad that if I get some lower-quality stuff to see if I stick with electric (I play acoustic primarily) I will get an American Standard Strat and some nicer amps later on. He is right though, it isn't a good idea to spend $2000+ on stuff then just go back to acoustic

Thanks for the help guys!

By the way, how do you make your "rank" thing go up? I don't want to be stuck at "hobbyist".

And SKcoppertele your slide song on that music website is pretty sick!
