Buddy Guy (with David Ritz) has written another book about his life as a bluesman 'When I Left Home: My Story' http://tinyurl.com/6wllkkm, there is another book 'Damn Right I Got The Blues!' that kind of 'sugar-coated' details of Buddy's life, this is the more realistic version.

I read his entire story in just a few hours (my honey had a stent inserted yesterday so I was at the hospital most the day, really I couldn't put it down.

Buddy had quite a few stories about him growing up, and stories he heard while traveling with other bluesmen/women. I literally laughed out loud while sitting out in the recovery area reading those stories.

Buy this book and read it, you won't be sorry.

I sat-in with Buddy & Junior Wells quite a few times when they were still doing clubs gigs back in the '80s. Buddy never hesitated to show me a lick, and Junior would always hug me like a brother whenever I saw him and he respected me as a musician.

I always like the story of a shy Buddy Guy getting slapped in the face by Muddy for not taking a sandwich.

That story changes a little bit in the book.

Also Buddy reminisces about Jimi Hendrix recording his show with a reel-to-reel at 'The Generation Club' and taking the tape home to learn his licks. This happened but the circumstances was different.

Jimi was at 'The Generation Club' that night and Guy's band was playing. Filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker was also in NYC following and filming Dylan around for a documentary, someone tells him that Jimi is at the club. I don't think that Pennebaker even had heard of Buddy Guy.

Pennebaker already knew Jimi because he filmed the Monterey Pop Fest.

He goes in the club with his camera and recording equipment, spots Jimi sitting up front and asks Jimi if he would hold that mic, so everyone assumes that Jimi is recording Buddy's show for his own personal use, but really he was being the 'soundman'.

You can watch part of the footage here http://youtu.be/C1xqzr9kTL8.
