You can't say they haven't had a good run!

Thanks, it's great to hear this, only trouble is they should have done it 30 years ago. Still better late than never.

I think they did do it 30 years ago. And a few times after that. I don't think you can ever believe the Stones when they say it's their final tour.

you can make mroe money doing a 'final tour'. then when you reform to do your next 'final tour', none of your fans complain about getting conned because they want to see you again.

Yeah don't get me wrong i love the Stones and Keith is one great player, Ronnie too, but they've just been going too long. You know it's not the music really, it's seeing Mick with an old wrinked face singing Satisfaction and stuff  The actual music is as good as ever but it's time to call a halt IMO.

They're doing what The Simpsons should have done 5 years ago. Really, I'm glad to see them go before they're all completely senile and jumping around on stage, not knowing what's going on. Really though, they should go out with a bang by doing the Superbowl halftime for they're final, final appearance.

+1

Weren't there about a half a dozen Eagles "farewell" tours over a ten-year period?

Just to reiterate my above post, this isn't true. The original article was in The Mirror, which says a lot about the story's authenticity on its own. Also, there's an update at the bottom of the article Buxom posted which says so.

Here it is in NME.

Shame, nobody thinks The Stones should break up more than me.

Yes I think there were. I saw the grand-daddy "reunion" tour: Hells Freezes Over. I think Hell has thawed several times since then, especially with recurring, though minor, changes in The Eagles line-up.

As for The Stones, I pay little attention anymore. They're too old (and wrinkled) to even make the cover of AARP Magazine!

Well I'd hardly call the Rolling Stones retiring, but I do think it's time for them to go.
If ever a band needed autotune, it's the Rolling Stones

I don't understand the point of retiring when you are a musician. What the hell else are you going to do when that's all you've done your whole life? Watch TV? Les Paul performed up into the point when he died and he was in his 90's. If people still want to see you play, then to hell with it. Leave the stage in a coffin. I think once music is in your blood it's hard to ignore it. I know I couldn't.
