Asgeirman,
Thanks for posting....Guthrie is very good and he shows a certain flair in the beginning with his hair malfunction :)
I looked up Charlie Parker's original recording and found another recording by an all star band including Joe Pass on guitar....the band races through the piece, so though technically amazing, somewhat lacking to me in terms of ambience.

cheers...

I agree with you , Alex - technically amazing- still feel it's more music into Guthries interpretation is a more musical :o expression ,(despite the hair :) )
First time I heard the tune , was by this Fender fretless Jazzbass-treater :

Jaco Pastorius is iconic....thanks very much for the link and I agree with you...Guthrie's interpretation shows much more soul than the all-star version.
I wish I still had hair  ...I blame my parents for this sad state of affairs.

Cheer up Alex - think of all the money you save - a bottle of shampoo goes for years!
Yesterday I cut the rest of my hair down to 2 mm - perhaps a bit envious ,regarding Guthrie Gowan - both hair and great those musical abilities :(

I bet that Malmsteen wouldn't be able to pull off a soulful cover of that song-or any other for that matter.
