i watched them play a biker rally in sturgis on palladia i think. maybe its just me but i thought they played and sounded very good. i don't care for them a whole lot but the performance was tight.
having said this, the one and only time i saw guns and roses axl hose refused to sing because folks were hurling cups at the stage. at the time, i really dug g&r.
having said that, metallica played before g&r and the same idiots were throwing cups at them. they just kept thrashing away and occasionally flipped off the cup throwers. music never stopped. hetfield had a broken or burnt arm and only sang.
i won't buy their stuff but i must admit they sounded great.
don't throw any cups or i'll leave.

To be honest, i've never really understood the whole, it's fashionable to bag on Nickelback thing. I don't listen to their music and am really only familiar with what gets played on air and tv, but to me it seems like fairly inoffensive soft rock etc, and not bad, or good enough to warrant as much "outrage" as they seem to cause.

Anyway, only my opinion etc etc

I 2nd your opinion, no real feelings either way on the band but I don't get why it's such a popular thing to rag on them. Their playing music as a living, wish I could do that. :?

I think they get all this Hate because they play soft rock and try to play venues like the
"Ilha do Ermal" metal festival. apparently they think they are hard core.

Nickelback @ Ilha do Ermal

I think that the "over the top" dissing is in proportion to the "over the top" raving. Personally I don't think they are all that interesting to listen to.

I would fire who ever wrote that column. Rather then talk about the other great 3 bands that will be at the show they chose to rant about Nickelback for the whole colum.

People up north like to rip on them because they play at any and every large Canadian event, and people are tired of hearing them. Because really what does Canada have as far as mainstream bands go? Rush and Nickelback. Yep.
Say the Junos come by, who's headlining it? "Oh, Nickelback again.."
I will say that Canada has an amazing underground music scene, but the farthest that any band with real talent will ever make it in todays day and age will be getting played once in a while on one of CBC's radio stations.

Don't get me wrong I'm not fan of Nickelback, but I just think it's disgraceful to boo off or stone off a band from the stage for turning up wanting to play music and entertain people.
