i'm like a lot of you- constantly losing picks, buying new ones, and losing them too. kind of like tupperware- you give some food to somebody, and you never see the container again.

my mom was going thru some old boxes, and found a little plastic pouch with some fender picks inside. the way i figure, they have to be 45-50 years old. very cool 8) they are put back in the drawer for another 50 years- maybe my grandson will have some fun with them some day

Still got a well worn Dunlop tortex one, the purple 1.14 and it must be about 20 years old or thereabouts and it's well worn. I'm using these 'V-picks' these days, tho' they're quite thick.

I swear each pick gets used once and then is stolen by the very same creature that has a fetish for a single sock out of a pair.

the oldest one I have is an old steel pick given to me by my grandfather back in the day. I have no idea how old it actually is but it was at least made in the 20's.
also the old man has a really really old pick made of actual tortoise shell that my great grandfather gave him. for some reason if he takes one step into California without the certificate he had to get for it he can be arrested. its kinda screwed up. but its kinda neat to have, it will most likely end up being donated to a museum after he passes away, if they want it.

As far as Fender picks go, I have these pre-CBS ones. No circled (R) on the Logo dates them somewhere in the 60s.

In what must be the earliest form of plastic re-cycling, these D'Andrea mosaics (clown vomit) were made in the 20s.

I think I have a pick my mom got from a Pantera concert years ago. I'll have to check though. Just found it in an old box of junk and asked her about it. It may be in my box of various band memorabilia now.

My pic's don't last very long. I can wear one down in no time at all. I bought a couple of the V pic's and so far after about 3 mnths there like new. So they are my oldest ones.

I've got a V-pick that i've been using the last couple of years and it's wearing down a bit now but the sound is great. Anyway it's a uniform shape and there are still another two fresh points on it to be used so basically it could last for another few years of hard picking!! at least 8) It's only starting to wear a bit, taking the sharp edge from that one point and that's after using it for years.

So tbazzone you won't be wearing it out anytime soon i can tell you that 8)

I still got a couple of the Fender Triangular three point picks from the early 70's...tried em because Clapton used em in Derek & The Dominos...I still use em every once in a while.

I prefer older picks. I like them when they get a curve to them and the pointed end gets thinner. I have actually sanded down the picking end to make them thinner and intentionally bent them up a little.

I have a white Pre-CBS Fender pickup i found in my grandparent's attic that had been sealed for 15 years. Belonged to my Uncle, in either the late 60;s or early 70's.

The oldest pick I own is actually my Mom's pick from when she played guitar in high school in the '70s. I think it's a Fender medium, but the logo's worn off. It's lasted about thirty years longer than the guitar did. My uncle smashed it trying to impersonate metal bands in the 80's.

The oldest pick I own that was mine to begin with are two Fender thins and a medium that I got with my first guitar when I was 11. One of the picks was chewed by my then one year old puppy. You can't play it, but the teeth marks in it look pretty funny.

I think I still have a Glen Campbell pick that I got during a tour of the Ovation factory in New Hartford, CT circa 1972.

A few years ago I took apart my old Maestro EP-3 Echoplex to give it a good cleaning.

Inside the chassis I found an old white pick that must have belonged to the unit's previous owner. I don't recall the brand that was on it, but when I researched it at the time, I discovered that Dunlop had bought the brand, but hadn't put out any with that name in a long time.

I bought the Echoplex used in about 1978 or '79 and the pots inside the unit dated to 1973, so that pick ended up inside it sometime between '73 and '79.
