Gorgon....
I thank you for your kind words (and your contributions). My ancestors were Scots (they left for the new world a couple of centuries back and couldn't afford the round trip fare) and I believe that the Scots not only have a well developed sense of humour, but also know a thing or two about stretching a dollar
wae hae,
Alex

PLEASE do not take offense but the only time i discuss finger nails with my buddies it is usually because they have either been smashed or had a drill bit put through it. maybe i'm a wuss but i finger pick with just the skin on my pick hand. it is interesting that you guys use your nails so much. i keep mine as short as possible because it is impossible to keep them clean, let alone groomed. plus, i bite them when i get pissed off or nervous.

OK guys, pitcher time. It took me a wee while to trace this picture in my olds files, but I think it was from two or three years ago. I was on vacation out of town, no witnesses, no paparazi and I saw a small private beauty salon that advertized nails care. As a car mechanic, I can't have healty nails, much less properly shaped nails for guitar playing, for a long time. Screwdrivers, pliers or hammers always find a way to break my nails and I seldom can play the way I want. So I saw this salon and I took the plunge. Priceless was the look on the face of the owner of the salon. She was looking around for hidden cameras like AFV. After I finally convinced her it was no joke, she had to fit my three fingers with girl thumb nails, because apparently, artificial nails are for chicks only, so they are too small for a man. We can see the real nails underneath the artificial ones. Anyways, I had brought my acoustic guitar with me so she could fit the shape and the lenght of the nails for maximum playability. It was a first for both of us. All I can tell is that it was totally worth it. It makes your playing so natural it plays like a dream. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end. A week later I was back to work and on my first day at work, before noon, I had already broke two of my artificial nails. To conclude, if it wasn't that expensive, I would have fresh nails almost every friday nights, just in time to play all the week end. Well, not every friday nights, just the ones I crave to play fingerpicking. Do it at least once in your life, it is worth it.

Great video! Thanks for posting. James Taylor is very good (and funny) in the video. I've got to go to Canadian Tire or Home Depot and get some of these supplies. Love his nail kit 8)
