Ex-Fleetwood Mac member and solo performer Bob Welch dies early today of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He had been ill for quite some time and he left a suicide note although its contents weren't devulged.I find it difficult to fathom how someone who wrote such beautiful and uplifting music could be driven to suicide. He could've been afflicted with some extremely painful and dibilitating terminal disease and decide to end it all-as many do-before it progressed too far.Anyway what ever the reason,he's at rest and out of any physical or emotional pain that he was going through.May you finally find peace with God and thanks for such wonderful music Bob Welch.

Very sad news. Why will we do for pets what we won't for people? His pain must have become unbearable to do this. :(

Of the three, the Bob Welch "era" was the shortest and least renowned, but I always liked the direction the band took during that time. RIP Bob.

I am very saddened to hear this. Thoughts go to his close friends and family who are surely devastated beyond words. What a blow for them.

My favorite Bob Welch solo tunes were "Ebony Eyes", "Precious Love", and "Sentimental Lady." I was a radio programmer back when those songs were out and those hits got lots of play on adult contemporary stations, not so much on the album oriented rock stations. While his stay with F-Mac wasn't exactly hit laden, having played with F-Mac couldn't have hurt him in getting his more successful solo career off the ground though.

He was a dang good player.

Sad to hear this. We don't know the suffering people are going through in their own lives that leads to a tragedy such as this. Just terrible all round.

R.I.P Bob.

I wasn't aware of it but he was living here in Nashville, and was found at his home by his wife...very sad.
I really feel sorry for the family and friends who will always think,"was there something I could have done?"
Having had a few friends who have commited suicide,it's a tough thing to deal with.
I hope he has found peace.

Way back when, I was really fond of Bob Welch's group "Paris" and their first album.

Here is a clip of one track off of it

My favorite Bob Welch-era Fleetwood Mac song was "Hypnotized". Love that song, though, you don't hear it on the radio anymore.

RIP Bob
