I play in DADGAD quite a lot, occasionally Drop-D, very occasionally CADGBE.

the lowest i ever tune to regularly is AEADGB on a baritone strung with
74-15. and One time i went down to F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, Gb in an attempt to play a mushuggah song with a cousin of mine. (WAY WAY to low). was like playing rubber bands and that's with a 74 on a baritone....... I didnt quite nail his tone

standard tuning in my current projects/bands. When I was in a cover band, there were a few 'drop d' songs, so I had a second guitar set up for it.

When I do all Hendrix covers I tune to Eb and when doing some Donovan I'd tune to an open D or a standard tuning pattern in D.Almost all my tuning these days is in A-440.

I really don't like the ultra-low tunings that they use in death and thrash metal,to me it always sounds dischordant especially when combined with the low, gutteral voices of the so-called vocalists. I am sure that we'll see the day when people look back at thrash metal and roll their eyes and laugh-like I do now when I hear it.

like drop D and stuff bro. You tune a half step down, right? That's a low tuning.

Being a bassist, I never understood the point of a guitarist tuning down to practically my register. Why not just play a bass and save yourself the hassle? To each their own, I guess.

1. I tune up and down for variety.

2. It's more of a hassle to play a bass than it is to simply tune a guitar down.

3. Tuning down, we guitarists get the best of both worlds...guitar/bass!

4. And, just a makin' ah point; you bass players can't tune up and get guitar tone but we get guitar tone and can tune down to get bass tone -- yuck, yuck, yuck, neener, neener, neener! lol, n/k!

Sir, please put the guitar down and go back to the bass forum! 8)
