Today I picked up my Father's Day present-A brand new Vox Mini 3-it's a tiny amp with a 5" speaker but for 3 W it really sounds great and the Missus won't have to go ballistic over the "high" volume of a 15 W amp any more.It has 10 very good amp models,4 effects-Comp.,flange,tremolo,chorus and 4 reverb/echo settings. It uses a 12 V adapter or 6 AA batteries.I'll be trying it through a 4-12 cabinet as I believe that the 12s will no doubt sound much better than the lone 5" speaker.I almost bought a small Marshall but the Vox had more features and the capability to be taken camping or on picnics.

Congrats! I have a Marshall but have always been a fan of Vox too. Bet it sounds great, enjoy.

I was playing around with the Mini 3 for a good while this afternoon and the more I play it the more that I'm impressed.I set it on the JCM 800 model and with a few tweaks played Spanish Castle Magic,Angel and Little Wing, even though the speaker is just 5" in diameter it sounds really full and even better than a lot of 8s and 10s I've used.I would imagine that this little amp could make do miced in a pinch if your main amp packed it in during a gig.For just over $100 you just can't go wrong-I believe that it's only about $80 in the U.S.

BTW to make the tone more authentic,I used my lefty Strat that I strung right especially for doing Hendrix covers-that really did the trick.
