For my morning workout the last two days, I had 'Jimi Plays Woodstock' on Blu-ray on my '60 LG plasma cranked out in 7.1 dts-hd with my Onyko TX-NR609 receiver. Wow what a experience!

The image aspect ratio didn't change, nor could the editors remove the lint specks from the print, still the image looked great. But it was the audio mix that's really awesome. Even with 'reduced' hearing range, I could hear audio artifacts I had never heard before.

I'm still amazed at Jimi's improv that leads up Villanova Junction (aka 'Jam Back at the House'), his walking bass line done with his thumb while playing chords still blows my mind.

Last night we watched Prince's 'Purple Rain' on Blu-ray with the same above setup, expect this time the screen image was in 1.78:1 (full screen), but the image transfer wasn't that great, much better than the DVD, but not really great.

It was the same with audio mix, good but not awesome like I thought it would be, some of the bass punch was missing, but here I know it's due to the original live recording setup.

I'm a Prince fan, and it was still fun to watch again.
