I've had plans for a 14' x 30' addition at the rear of our home to house Retroverbial's new "Vintage Fender Amp Museum And Restoration Center" for quite some time and while it's still under construction, it's finally advanced to the point that I felt compelled to take it for "test drive"......

Image

Specs for the facility include custom-mount can lights in the display area's ceiling and dedicated 30-amp electrical service for the wall outlets. With care to the placement and layout, the room should comfortably hold twenty amps, with sufficient wall space to hang ten or twelve guitars.

This has been a dream of mine for many years and I'm stoked that it's finally all coming together.

:D

Here's a tip for ya. The wall where you plan on hanging the guitars. Line it with the plywood you've clad the outside of the structure with. Then simply drywall over the top of it.
You'll be able to hang axes anywhere on that wall and not be at the mercy of stud position.

I'm happy for you man and I like the idea by Niki to put plywood under the wallboard for hanging guitars. It makes a lot of sense.

Arjay...as always doing it up right! Are you going to give personalized guided tours to the "Vintage Fender Amp Museum And Restoration Center"? Might be a great way to raise $$ for additions to the Museum! Heck I would buy a ticket, but only if you promise to have a jam at the end of the tour :!:

The plan is to use commercial slat board along the guitar wall and suspend the instruments using standard guitar hangers as used in music stores. That way, they can be staggered in height, to afford maximum use of the available space.

Of course, tours of the completed facility will be conducted "pro bono". However, you must bring a guitar and plan for a jam at the end. Single-malt "refreshments" will be provided as well......

Jeebus I think the Slat-wall Arjay refers to is the kind you see in guitar shops that the guitar hangers just slide into.

Do you have like tongue and groove/floorboard/exterior cladding slat?
Haven't seen that stuff since my apprenticeship.
