In SK defense that topic came after this one, and then the third one shortly after.

Son,there's an old carpenter's saying,...measure twice and cut,(or drill),once.

If you don't buy an original Fender guitar, you really have to measure before buying any spare parts. A sales person would have helped you for sure.

Better be p'ed off, than .... on. Costs extra.

Cheers

and why should I trust a store sales man to direct me??? he will only take to the most expensive thing.

1. Because he works at a guitar store and probably knows a lot more about parts and such than you do.
2. Because if you talk to people in real life like you have on this thread, he probably wants you to leave a satisfied customer. Not for you to come back angrier than before.
3. Sometimes the more expensive thing is what actually works, sometimes the cheaper thing is what actually works. It just depends.
4. Even if the salesperson is working off a commission (at Guitar Center they do, at Mom and Pop stores they may or may not), it's not really going to make a difference to them whether you buy the $50 set of tuners or the $80 set. They probably only get a tiny fraction of the profit anyway.

I work at a guitar store and I always try to steer people to the least expensive option that will work for them. I know not everyone does that. But if you go in assuming everyone is dishonest and treat them that way, they're definitely not going to feel as inclined to help you. You can only hurt yourself with that attitude.

I don't see a problem. The High E tuner is low, just as it is on my American Deluxe that has locking staggered tuners.

I have to agree with Niki here. Most of the locking tuners I've ever seen were low like that. The whole point of a locking tuner is that you don't have to wind it around the post so much. Therefore there's really no point in it being as high as a regular tuner, and why they're low like that.
