Commercial got kind of silly. Why not make a prop to begin with? Or just smash a $3 Yamaha recorder that everyone got in kindergarten?

(or whatever his name is) has no problem smashing Gibsons. Though he seems to have gone all over the internet getting rid of the evidence of him doing it. Probably due to Gibson devotee outrage at the destruction of a very nice SG.

I say, if you have the spare green and really want to do it, smash it up. I can also understand why people don't want to do it though.

About the third time I saw it on TV I made a point to take a better look at the broken guitar. Yes, it starts out as a Gibson and comes back as a broken Epi.

We're guitar players. The average person would never notice.

This is no great mystery.

Props department send assistant to buy to buy 2 similar looking guitars, one broken, one intact.
Gibson....Epiphone, they don't give a rat's $@! and neither do 99.9% of the viewing audience. The add isn't directed at guitarists. The guitar merely represents an unwanted possession.
