Hi again corpseknot: so happens I also have the DT Distortion Factory. Of the seven pedals it emulates I own the Big Muff and on two separate occasions I have set both pedals up alongside one another and had other Forum users here (Mssrs Nikininja and Nutter) try and get each pedal to sound as close to the other as possible. Each of those gentlemen set them up quite differently, but in both cases they managed to make the Distortion Factory sound almost exactly the same as the Muff. If there was any difference it seemed that the DigiTech was a touch warmer than the Muff, which was no bad thing to my ears.

In other words, in a real-life test the DigiTech simulation turned out to be a very convincing copy of the real pedal it was emulating. Which is an interesting and cost-effective discovery. I was pleasantly surprised.

Cheers - C

Hi Corpseknot: and a belated Image to the forum!

I am not a huge fan of chorus pedals. In fact, it's probably the only pedal I don't like on guitars. Chorus can be good fun when mixing vocals, though.

Come to think of it, the chorus effect on some of Antonio Forcione's recordings really makes me shudder - beautiful virtuoso playing, but that chorus.... meh. So eighties...

Here's what I mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7z84VCgnfc#t=0h0m8s

There he is, playing a gorgeous acoustic, but puts it through a chorus pedal... *sigh*

As always it's just my humble opinion.

Haha! Well there ya go - I love that! :D

And if folks find they do like Antonio's sound then his playing doesn't get much better than his number, Touch Wood:

I'm nearly losing count of how many times I've sat in front of him playing that song. Still don't know how he does it! If the world needs chorus pedals then that's the best use for 'em, I'd say.

Cheers - C

Fair enough - Antonio may use it. But everyone else - nah! :D

I have an old Boss Stereo Chorus (CE-3) from the late '80s/early '90s. It's not really stereo. It has two outputs -- one wet, one dry. Haven't used it much in the last ten years. Also have a DeltaLab unit that really is stereo. And finally, I have a Uni-Vox Stereo Chorus (UV1SC) that has chorus in one channel, vibrato in the other. Picked it up used and cheap.

I love modulation! And fuzz.

I have this thing called a Vision CHR5 that I bought about 25 years ago. They must've only just been invented! I use it here and there when I have to in my covers band. Highly recommended for cheesy 80s soft rock! :D

Chorus pedal? I don't use one.

But back in the day, I had one and would occasionally use it for clean rhythms and stuff, but that was it. Chorus is the worlds most overused pedal of them all. Every guitarist back in the 80's had one. It was required...

I've owned a number of chorus pedals over the years. This is the best one I've ever heard.

I actually plan on using a Chorus on a rhythm track one of my songs for the next album. Luckily I have a Roland JC-77 that I can use for that. The Chorus sound on it is incredibly good. But I'll let you in on a little secret. There's a pedal that gets you the same Roland JC sound, and it's not even a Chorus pedal.

It's one of these:
Image

I have one of these as well, and when I A/B them side by side, the only difference is that the DOD is slightly darker and thicker. However, that's if I keep the settings the same when I A/B them. I can tweak the highs on the EQ on the Roland to get the same sound out of it, it's just not in stereo. If I run the DOD in stereo with both of my Rolands, I can get the sound extremely close. But if my memory serves me well, I would need 2 of the pedals slightly offset in speed to each other to get a Roland stereo sound. My Roland JC-50 isn't a stereo chorus, it's a 1x12 combo. I can use this pedal to get pretty much dead-on to that amp. To be honest, the thicker sound of the DOD is equally pleasant to hear as a true JC sound. I like things a little on the Bass side of my eq settings.

There are more features presented in Part 2 of the Ola demo as Part 1 never addressed the second toggle switch.

When I bought my Ola I also bought the Strymon Lex which is the best Leslie emulator on the market in my opinion. Also a $300 pedal but worth it IMO.
