We'll see if i go back or try GHS boomers........Just going though a see what other people are talking about phase....EB's so far blow.... :? Amazingly enough they settled as well as Didarrio's if not better on MY LP....Go figure!

EB's work good on 24 3/4" scale necks but suck on 25 1/2" scale necks.

It certainly looks that way huh..... What about GHS Boomers are they higher tension or lower?

They feel like higher tension.

I believe all Fender Strats and Teles are 25-1/2" scale. I know some Fender models use shorter scales, but I'm not exactly sure which ones. I'm pretty sure a Jaguar is 24". As to the rest, you can look them up in the Fender products pages on this website.

Yes. I bet Mustang and Jaguar are shorter.
Mostly, good to know that Stratoscasters & Telecasters
are always 25.5" in length from nut to saddles. Right?

Just mention that I've seen people on this forum discussing short scale strats.......
and of course -you can get the tele as a baritone  So these should not be 25.5''

We are Nutrisystem kind of people over here.

What ever happened to the freakin' 100 yard dash?
Or the 220, 440, 880, mile???
Who can broad-jump nine meters? What is nine meters? I like 27 feet?
Who can high-jump 2.67 meters? I like a cool 8'1".

The metric system needs to go with the pound and
everything become Euro Dollars  & American style measurments 8)

Wanna drive a cool 327 Corvette? or a five liter?

By the way . . . .
if us North Americans use 8s 9s 10s 11s 12s strings,
what numbering system do you guys use? Centimeters? Millimeters?

We use the same numbers for the gauge - without quite understand what's its all about ( goes for me, at least  ) But after playing for 40 years - I've got the picture :D
I agree about that cool 327 Corvette - at least it sounds cooler
The part of this country in which I'm living , is heavily influenced by the US . few miles :!: from here , I'm sure they use both dollars and feet & inches

the string gauge is in thousandths (thoundths like a lithp; always had trouble with that word  ) so is somewhat a hybrid of metric and imperial measurements.
As an aside, when I was still gainfully employed, the instrumentation that I used was manufactured in a variety of countries and one of the reasons that I lost my hair was trying to keep track of the various nuts and bolts...imperial, metric and BA (british) especially when Britain (and Canada) were changing to the metric system....aaargh

Hmmm-thank you, Alex -learning a lot today :D It still can be a pain when it comes to nuts and bolts and wrenches - different sizes and scales -imperial and metrical , as the guitars are produced in different countries. Some brands even mix them.... :(

I've been really bad about changing strings on my basses and guitars. I think it's been a couple of years since I did last. Unless they break or are so worn out that they can't stay in tune, then I'll change them. Since I'm about to be really active musically this year, I should take more care with that, I suppose. I'm thinking about trying GHS the next time around. I've never really given them a shot (maybe some Bass Boomers 20-odd years ago, I don't recall.) I've tried all kinds of others. Some I liked, some not so much.

Bass Paul. Don't you think unchanged strings will give your guitar & playing style
a very unique and differnt tone? A special tone that will last until the next break?

I agree. I believe it gets stodgy between governments and cultures to stick it out
when the measurement comparisons are not popular.

Only when it is "cool" will they change at all.

I've been using D'Addario nickel plated .008-.038 for years but recently tried a set of Ernie Ball Extra Slinky .008-.038 just for curiosity because I've heard so many people rave about them.I tried a couple of sets so far and have found that even though they have held their brightness pretty well they tend to go out of tune quite easily and quite often.I installed them the same way that I've always put on extremely light gauge strings and pre-stretched them quite a bit also.

Needless to say that once these Ernie Balls are all used I'll be going back to my trusty D'Addarios.

I love the 3250SL's by Fender but the are hard to find. So I went with Ernie Ball and had the same tuning issue problems that you have. Does Fender still make the 3250SL or are they discontinued?

resurected from 29 May 2012, I looked for my post and none to be found a second chance. Daddario is a solid choice as is Ernie Ball, La Bella are a good choice too. Fender strings are awesome as are Fender bass guitar strings. :D

ps: I have used all of those listed and was very happy with them.
