I use my Digitech RP100 with my main preset, which is set with a detuned setting, rectified, and the midrange about half and half. I can get a killer tone out of this. Just my thing though. But it works for my style.

Dime a 1968 Fender Dual Showman Reverb TFL5000D into a 4x12 Speaker Cabinet.
Have good Strat volume pots and Strat Seymour Duncan pickups.
Five way switch.
Powerful HSS
and a real strong number two on the switch out put combining
the bridge humbucker and the middle single coil Seymour Duncan.

Let it RIP. No Pedals needed.

a strat into a jcm 800 half stack does the trick nicley and if i need a bit of oomph i use an arbitter fuzz face (hendrix tunes) a dallas rangemaster clone (rory gallagher ) t.rex moller (hendrix and cream ) it also has a sweet clean boost . and for floyd stuff it'll be a big muff , cheers
Alan

You guys are going to cringe...

Distortion: I use my Fender Frontman 65r's channel switch. (Yes, I know... I know... It's a SS amp. But, I have played with the tone knobs and got it tweaked just right, so it sounds fairly good).

Overdrive: I use my homemade Tube Screamer clone from BYOC. That was a really cool pedal to build from their kit! 8)

SS amps are cool.
I just purchased a Fender FM-100H.
A Solid State Beauty.
Gives a lot of options the tubes do not provide.
Also, I have the Fender G-DEC-Thirty and the Cyber Twin amp head.
Cool stuff. Enjoy to the hilt!

I use two different pedals depending on the sound I want. I have a Boss MT2 for Heavy Metal sound and a Boss OD/Distortion for heavy Blues or Hard Rock.

for heavy distortion ( excessive ) an Ibanes MMM1 baritone loaded with Bare Knuckle nailbombs, tuned AEADGB ran into into a MXR full bore metal in the front of a Carvin V3 half stack. when my wife isn't home of course   the V3 gain channel has Zero need for the pedal BUT sometimes i do it anyways

EHX Metal Muff.
Only one I know of that doesn't scoop the mids and boost the bass.
Friends don't let friends scoop mids.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
