Oasis is utter tripe and shouldn't even be taken seriously.

are you really only 15 ? if so you probably missed the whole point of the band. time and place dude, time and place......

They were unoriginal and made music to market. They were also guilty of plagiarism of a good number of songs IIRC, and even if you ignore that little lapse, they were never exactly the pinnacle of originality. They made their music to sell. Knowing that 30 years later, people were still, for lack of a better term, dickriding the Beatles to high Hell and back, they tried their damnedest to BE the Beatles. They were a copycat band trying to make a quick buck, don't try to make it out to be anything more than it is.

Topscore, you couldn't be further from the truth about Floyd.
And yeah most classic rock is garbage. It's about as rock'n'roll as a Tescos trolley. Pyrotechnics and boring multiple instrument meaningless solos aint what I got into music for. Rap... has more of an idea than most classic rock. Atleast there is some song structure and melody.

Oh, Gag me with a spooon

Live music sucks. Especially Rock since the Glam 1980s.
But, gotta say the word Classic in my vocabulary is not lightly used.
I am discussing the Classic Great Rock. Every group has garbage.

I love underground Rap, some street rap, lotta hip hop that is not crossed to Top40.
I am in the modern 2012 music scene every day, as a career move.
But, gotta love the Classics.
And Classics can come from 1940s-2012. Don't-cha think.

Tell Floyd I will send bandages. I would never offend a soul.
Just had a chance to express Rappin' Sir-Mix-A-Lot

Hey, NNinja: "Rapper's Delight" by Sugar Hill Gang and "Rapture" by Blondie
were the first rap songs, anyway. We are talking 35 years of Rappin'

And NikiN: What is your negative deal about Classic Rock?
All forms of music have good and bad.
Do you play guitar? All of your songs good or bad or both?
Give us Commercial Classic Rock Lovers a bit more space to stretch out.

Who likes pre-commercial Journey? Who likes commercial Journey?
Who likes pre-1980 Rolling Stones? Who likes post-1980 Rolling Stones?

Bye :)

Your posts are all over the place, Jesus H. Christ, man.

Live music sure as hell doesn't suck, in fact, these days recording an album is just a formality for most bands. Listening to some sterile, controlled recording of a band never has and never will beat seeing them 4 feet in front of you in some seedy shoebox of a club, at volumes so loud you can barely think straight.

I don't need to go into some diatribe about what I hate about dinosaur bands. My initial statement justifies my opinion more than adequately. And pretty much sums up the downright arrogance of most of them.
Though I'll concede that there is some good in most bands. Just that they need very brave editors.

All post '92 alternative rock with the exception of Soundgarden and Primus.
Minor Threat, that straightedge stuff is damn dull. I want a band to not tell me what not to do. I'll decide thanks.
The endless stream of skull and crossbones adorned Discharge clones.
Bad thrash, Pantera included. Darrell was a good guitarist. Horrible cliched band after 'Vulgar' though.
Crass and all them anarchist movement bands.
Avant Garde, nu wave, meat is tasty, bloody Morrisey.
U2. Bono is a con man. The (H)edge is a rubbish guitarist. Take him away from a studio sized pedal board and he sounds like my four year old.
Oh how many pages can I go on for?

OK. OK. I get to see what base of influence and non-influence NikiN comes from
We'll see what my God-like opinion forecasts over the NNinja

So, all post 1992 Alternative Rock (except Primus & Soundgarden)
I will agree with NikiN as there are a few I do listen to:
Gov't Mule, North Mississippi All-Stars, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Strokes, White Stripes,
Green Day, Primus, Red Hot Chili, Kings of Leon, Neil Young (75% of his post 1992 grunge rock),
Hinder, OffSpring, Jet, Radiohead, Drive By Truckers, Raconteurs, Korn, Skillet, Black Label Society . . .

OK. That gives NikiN a look at what I approve. A know a lot of it leans toward Classic Rock & Blues
Based Rock, but it's still modern. Therefore, those old post British Invasion influences are still strong.

On the other hand, even though I own most of the songs by the above artists,
I still do not find myself listening to the above, as much as I am getting bored
lately with lack of new sounds and influences THAT ARE GOOD!
Not noise to be making noise.

I do enjoy trying to get the creativity in SOME Death Metal, Thrash, Crust Punk, Gothic Metal,
Rap Metal, Speed Metal, Funk Metal, Power Metal, Noisy Metal, Grindcore & Deathgrind, etc.

Problem is that I cannot have metal music as loud as it needs to be. I'm not OD'd on anything
legal or illegal when I do listen. But, gotta love some of the chord changes & lead/rhythm lead riffs.

Too bad most all is dirty-fuzz-high-gain-distorted-broken speaker buzzing loudness that
makes creative music development "hard to notice" when quantity is drowning over quality.
So, I get bored

I was around when what's the storey morning glory came out (I was 12) and I got sucked right into it. I can happily say I loved it for what it was but I didn't like them talking about the Beatles so much as they didn't come close. In the UK it was all Oasis that year and It was a pretty cool time.

However, when I listen back to those early albums every now and again I do feel as though their music has not lasted the test of time. Wonderwall for example really bores me to tears but it was MASSIVE in the UK when released. A few weeks ago I did stick the old dusty CD in the car stereo and I must say some tracks really brought back great memories and smiles but generally I found it just OK. But they are better than a whole lot of bands out at the moment.

I don't like hardly any music in the charts and rarely have the radio on in the car. My wife thinks I am so boring especially when I reach for the old hendrix CDs or a stones record for the millionth time...In fact...

Forget boring bands I am just one big BORE!!!

I love hearing peoples likes and dislikes though its what makes music and us humans great.

Take it easy

Tom

Honestly I can barely listen to The Beatles, Zepplin I find it so boring. That doesn't mean I don't appreciate what they did but I don't like them.

I also have just as much respect for someone modern who tries something new, in my opinion its much harder to make something new these days with so much already having gone before.

Hey! I like what you say.
I do run into (from time to time) that live life as if all has been done.
New ideas & different ideas create argument rather than discussion towards inquiry.

...I thought Foreigner: Alive & Rockin' 2007 was going to be boring, but it's not. It's shockingly not boring. It's on Netflix.
