Wasn't ment to be cute or original it is my opinion. I just listened to something from each of the bands you had listed and wasn't inspired by any of them in the least. This is not about you in any way just those bands. Most of them I could hardly get through 1 song without losing interest.

Try listening to a full album from each, then maybe form an opinion on them. A random song on youtube isn't going to do any band much justice, especially if it's a bad song (which I know for a fact is the case with a lot of the first songs listed for these guys on youtube...). You just barely listened to each band with an already biased view. Every artist I called boring I have listened to AT LEAST a full album, hell I own practically everything AC/DC has ever recorded.

Also, Duane Denison (The Jesus Lizard) is a VERY highly regarded guitarist, incredibly talented man, and Melvins are widely considered one of the best metal bands of all time. So there's that too.

How does that kind of consideration factor into your opinion of Led Zep, AC/DC etc?

Obviously it's a matter of taste as to which bands are boring, it's not a set of facts that are provable. I can see what you mean about bands like AC/DC having similar sounding songs, but to break it down to saying that they only ever wrote 3 songs is over the top and disrespectful IMO. I'd love to hear you tell Angus to his face that he only wrote 3 songs. Try to imagine what a petty jerk you would come off as.

On the other hand, I go out of my way to check out bands that you reference since I expect them to be a cut above the rest. Go figure.

Riley Im not trying to tick Floyd off. I listened to his bands to see where he's coming from and I understand his opinions.

Floyd its the style of music that I find boring. Theres very few metal band that I find original. I grew up during the begining of the punk years and use to sneak into the bars to see them. Loved the Dead Boys back then. It all sounds the same to me now.

AC DC now I find boring also. Everything with Bon Scott was great.

How about bands like Coldplay and the new Singer/songwriter rage - all boring and without soul in my opinion.

"3 songs" = hyperbole. And Led Zep DID plagiarize A LOT. As for Melvins, they really are considered one of the best of the best, almost universally. Hell, they've created/pioneered several subgenres.

You apparently don't listen to much metal.

EDIT: there's also the fact that you don't seem to pay much attention to anything past a certain time period or outside of a certain sound. I mean, if you're trying to imply they're unheard of nobodies, that's not even a matter of opinion, it's just objectively WRONG.

If everyone liked the same music, then that could be boring.

Mine changes..and frequently..I find John Mayer boring, especially
his new 'Born and Raised' one.

I'd much rather listen to a songwriter than a guitarist. Guitarists produce boredom, they need songwriters. That's why they bore me, they are all like Malmsteen. Whatever genre they play in.
I consider SRV to be just as bad a songwriter as Malmsteen. Fair guitarist but I'd never buy it. It's just so monotonous and dull.
Though by no means is that limited to SRV. Gilmour, Page, Hendrix (sometimes), Clapton (a lot of the time recently) all suffer from the same plight.
They lost or have lost sight of what it's about, the song, not one instrument.

Yeah, I'd rather buy the new Disney clubs wannabe's single. At least there may be a half acceptable melody or a hook leading into the chorus.

If you call the repetitive bludgeoning of a solo, passion, I'd hate to share a bed with you. No matter how many silly faces you grimace whilst twiddling your fingers about the place.

Whoa that's harsh. I happen to like guitarist so this hits me right in the heart but to each his/her own. Tip o' the hat to ya.

Taylor Swift has a vocal range of like half an octave.

It's not that I dislike guitarists. There are plenty of guitarists I do like. They are either reigned in by a songwriting band member or are more focused on songs than a solos. Or have a very tactful, diplomatic editor.
Despite being phenomenal players. Vernon Reid and Paul Simon are both great examples of great songwriters that are gorgeous guitarists. From completely different styles too. I can listen to either at the drop of a hat and fully enjoy myself.

It's the selfish, uncaring, boring solomeisters that get my goat. I love listening to Knopfler. I can't deal with the Love over Gold album though. There is not one song on it under five and a half minutes. What ever happened to rock'n'roll. Knopfler certainly forgot on that album.
