Boring huh?
Well, they've bored millions of people for 39 years. :lol:
+1 and AMEN! I have loved this band for most of the decades they've been playing and I really enjoyed seeing them live during the Black Ice Tour. Boring..? Nope.

And when I look at the list of "bands" on The Barber's signature, I see NOTHING that interests me... boring, boring, boring... he's obviously on a totally different wavelength than any of the "classic" bands of the 70s.

U2, Bon Jovi, Nirvana, Foo Fighters. all top of the list when people ask me what i dont want to listen to. i get the AC/DC thing, 2 or 3 tracks and you dont need to listen to the rest of the album.

i dont know how many of you realise how long the black keys have been around. im sure they were breaking through in the NME when i had a paper round, and im 26 now. the latest album is very good, nothing else sounds like it that is getting as much airtime, and after a decade + at least they're getting some recognition.

but, for most, aboslutely, totally boring band, i give you :

Keane.

they dont even have a guitarist. :? :?

I find Queens of the Stone age sort of boring. Not because of their music but because of the way its mixed. Its sounds like every instrument has been re-amped through the same big muff.

I actually really like the strokes , and the Black Keys, and Zeppelin, and Foo Fighters, and Nirvana.Maybe you guys just don't get it.

Keane have a few ok songs too.

Deep Purple is just bland IMO
SRV is generic derivative blues playing, nothing particularly special and only remembered as he is because he died young.

You sound like SK talking about hip hop. :lol:

Except I'm not ignorantly dismissing entire genres, rather, I'm dismissing bland, unoriginal bands. The unoriginal part applies a bit less to Deep Purple, I do acknowledge their significance in the creation of heavy metal by way of influence, but ultimately their music just was not particularly strong. The sounded more or less like any other band you could think of from that decade.

Were worlds apart on our opinions, but I find it really strange that Stevie Ray was generic. IMO, he wrote the book on Texas blues and I doubt we see anyone anytime soon that played with as much energy and emotion as Stevie Ray did.

AC/DC, yea maybe. Power chords, yadda dadda. Pretty much the same over and over, but they made history. And a buttload of money.

Led Zeppelin, is Led Zeppelin. Nuff said. Maybe not the most talented band of all times, but over 40 years later they are still considered the most popular rock band ever! Even Van Halen will never reach that pinnacle.

The worst band ever?

A flock of Seagulls. lol

I ran, so far away..... :lol:

All bore me to tears.

Aside from Bonamassa and Purple, I agree, completely.Add Floyd and post 1990 Clapton to the list instead. The current Bonamassa stuff is great rock'n'roll whatever way you look at it. Purple, well, they are purple. Theres no need to expound on that any further.

All post '92 alternative rock with the exception of Soundgarden and Primus.
Minor Threat, that straightedge stuff is damn dull. I want a band to not tell me what not to do. I'll decide thanks.
The endless stream of skull and crossbones adorned Discharge clones.
Bad thrash, Pantera included. Darrell was a good guitarist. Horrible cliched band after 'Vulgar' though.
Crass and all them anarchist movement bands.
Avant Garde, nu wave, meat is tasty, bloody Morrisey.
U2. Bono is a con man. The (H)edge is a rubbish guitarist. Take him away from a studio sized pedal board and he sounds like my four year old.

Oh how many pages can I go on for?

Stevie was basically did the exact same thing every other blues guitarist ever has done, the only difference being that he watered it down even more and made it even more marketable.

Last two, success means absolutely NOTHING about a band's talent. AC/DC have the collective songwriting skills of a paper clip, and practically every popular Zep song still getting played on your average crapass rock station is completely plagiarized.

I'm not going to bother posting any opinions on music I find boring, I'm not taking the bait. Instead, let me point out that everyone is going to have entirely different opinions since music is almost completely subjective. There's no need to get worked up about it, or to take what someone thinks of your favorite bands personally. Arguing for or against something as subjective as music is really pointless.

A wise and insightful post Texas. Thank you for posting.

acdc would be for me one of the more boring bands. every song sounds similar, its just a fully cranked marshall. i can only listen to a few songs at a time. this i find similar with people like steve vai, only 1 or 2 songs. although satriani i can listen to endlesssly. malmsteen -_____- is totally boring, cant even listen to one song. john mayer :mrgreen: :mrgreen: on the other hand can quite simply be listened to all day
is there anybody who you find boring

Eric Clapton is the worst most boring band or complaining player, ever.
Post Cream.
Post Blind Faith.
Post Delaney & Bonnie.
Post Derek & The Dominos.
Post 461 Ocean Boulevard.
I would say Eric Clapton before 1974 was way too totally AWESOME.

IMHO, Eric Clapton after 1974 lacks fire, energy, the Cream TONE. etc.
It is gone.
Sure, there are hit songs here and there during the past 37 years.
But I will take PRE-1974 Eric Clapton ANYDAY over post 1974 Eric Clapton.

========================
Throw in Tom Petty = Booooorrrrrrrring.
Sure, Tom has a handful of hits that are great.
But, I do not follow him.
========================
I got tired of Traffic & Steve Winwood a long time ago.
========================
Bruce Springsteen has been real boring since his last good album, 2002's The Rising.
=======================
Edgar Winter - What has he done lately? or in the last 35 years?
========================

Hope you enjoyed my boring list :shock:
Toppscore 8)
